  • We are contenders

Compared to last year it seems we have hit the ground running. The boys are super fit and they appear to be highly motivated. We aren't behind the eight ball regarding rule changes this year either. I don't want to be guilty of a post-first round jizzfest but surely we will go very close this year if injuries are kind to us. If I was a betting man I would start saving for my grand final tickets.

Everyone is jizzing off too much to reply TCB!

TCB you're sounding like a fan. I'm sure Souffs are already getting theirs and maybe even the poor Eels fans are jumping for joy. 25 rounds to go with SOO, winter, and then the vermin again. Long season but YES, it was a great start.

We are super fit and playing like a side half way into the comp.

We have the best backline I have ever seen at our club. Our forwards are very strong - against North Qld they were rolling thunder

Most importantly everyone is happy and pulling together - as opposed to last season.

I am very excited about this season.

Its one game fellas, might want to get a grip on your expectations.

Not saying we aren't contenders, the comp is pretty weak right now so its there for the taking for any team that can hit some form in september. But a big win in round 1 has never ultimately been much of an indicator come the back end of the season (nor has a big loss).

Our depth is going to be our linchpin this season, particularly in the forwards. Napa and Evans played well on the weekend but that was against a thoroughly destroyed pack by the time Moa and JWH were through with them. One starting prop injury and we look much weaker up front given that would force Napa to start and then bring dropsy Kennedy back into the team.

Long season ahead. I expected a top 8 and week 2 exit this season so anything above that is a bonus as far as I'm concerned

Control the jizzing people. Great start yes, but a long way to go. Next up is the vermin filth. Go Easts.

I am a big fan of our backline however there are a lot of mistakes in them.

The last one of this sort of calibre was circa 1998 under Phil Gould.

                    Don't sleep on 2002...

                    Phillips
                    Mullins
                    Hegarty
                    Hodges
                    Minichiello
                    Freddy
                    Wing

That was an awesome backline. If this group win a comp then I'll put them up there. Potential wise, though, it's right up there. It doesn't have Freddy though.

My wife always says us footy fans are fickle. Love them when we win, hate them when we lose.
If we happen to go down on Sunday, some on here are no doubt going to want to slash their wrists and murder some players.

I would only do that if they packed it in. And there is virtually no chance of that happening.

We certainly looked better balanced across the park. Our back rowers were on fire last week, as were our centres, props, back three... The forward rotation worked really well, and Jake's stand in was very handy.

I always like FPN but I think he was a timely release.

We look like a team this year.
