You're getting the old page which is currently redirecting you to the forum. Clearing your browser history / cache should fix it, otherwise - just give it a day or so.

I can see a problem arising Chris. if a thread, lets say has 20 pages, at the moment you cant just go to page 20. you will have to go page by page.

I don't think this is correct, unless I'm misunderstanding. On the main thread page, for every thread there is a 'Last post by ____', underneath that is a blue arrow which will take you to the last post on the last page. Additionally, when you are in a thread at the top of the page is the page number which you can choose to change.
