  • Dedication, Courage and Mateship.

On ANZAC DAY I will be looking to see if this team I have followed for almost 50 years have got anything that makes them worth following. They dont have to win, but I see no reason why they shouldnt. Its 17 against 17 and the team who wants it more and is prepared to do more to win will get the prize. Ill be happy if they put in a whole hearted effort, show some guts and determination, go in with some kind of plan and stick to it, and not just run around like a bunch of headless chooks.

Over the last 50 years I have seen many great players make me proud to be a supporter of the Tricolours,Players like Jack Gibson, Les Hayes, Johnny Mayes, Kevin Hastings, Ron Coote, Johnny Peard, Artie, Freddy, and ofcourse Fitzy.............. lets hope there are some in this team, but I honestly doubt it, for the first time in my life I am starting to question whether this team is worth following.

The players I respect are Mini, Perro, SKD, Maubs, Miles ,Kennedy, Ryles and Friend. The rest are over rated, over paid and under achieving. The ones I am most disappointed in are Pearce, Anasta, FPN, JWH ,Leilua and Mose. They are all good enough to be stars, but take the easy option most times, dont have the strength of will to match their physical strength, or the mental capacity to treat this as more than a game.

If they put in a wholehearted effort, show some pride in the jersey, make the extra effort and support their mates then Ill be proud of them, they dont have to win.

Im driving from Brisbane this weekend to see this game, it will be a long farking drive home if they put in the same pisspoor efforts I saw against Auckland and Brisbane. They threw both of those games away.

I dont want to compare a footy game to the effort our ANZACS put in, I just hope some of their dedication, courage and mateship is reflected in our teams effort this monday.

I have been waiting for effort from our team over the last few years in Anzac day games, sadly im not expecting much anymore.

After all the pre game comments from our players, and all the Anzac day quotes to fire up,they still came out and stunk it up on the biggest stage!

Sadly i think the same thing will happen this year, especially after the Carney dilemna

Few people on this forum would believe our current team would have any of the characteristics written in the title of this thread...

Sometimes the other team is just a better team...no matter how hard our players try.

This time we're playing last years Premiers.

              BJ's what, 18?

He's tried hard this year, and scored some good tries.

              Think they're all dedicated.
Courage, what is that?...the first time our players look like 'being too rough' with opposition players, our players get penalised.

Not sure what to believe about "the playing group" and their 'dumping' of Todd Carney.

This part I am in total agreement with and have said much the same thing in another thread. I can go home happy if I see effort and pride in the jersey even if the outcome is a loss against the refs favourites.

                        The original post is great.

Our team is not worthy of it.

and Mose, JWH,BJ in your 'dud' file??...harsh.

looks like you'll be disappointed regardless on Monday
