  • Jake Friend (c)

I'm sure everyone is very aware of what talent this kid has but it's on nights like this when the smell of roses gives way to the stench of a loss that you get a glimpse of what stuff people are made of.

If you are looking for leadership by example then look no further.

Congratulations on a great personal game tonight Jake, well done mate - commiserations for the loss.

    Easts to win.

If the kid can stay off the piss and out of trouble, he is my vote for next captain, Pearce is the favourite of many, but struggles with the week in week out pressure of NRL, imagine if he inheritered the captaincy as well.

I think this kid can handle it. He was the 20's captain a while back. Sometimes making someone captain puts too much pressure on them. Pearce is hot and COLD. Imagine if he was catain, also!! Jake at least is consistant week in week out. Tackles his heart out and tries for the team. Pearce needs to look at his friend Foran to see how he should be playing. He really needs to step up if he is to be considered captain material.

He's pretty much the captain out there already, the kid carries us week in, week out - we've been royally farked up the guts without him.

I'm calling it. A potential Buderus.

            Especially if Carney clicks.

Bingo! Right now kf is way better than Pearce.

As for Jake Friend, he was one of just three of four players last night who played to their abilities and can rightly hold their heads up. Putting the (C) next to his name may come later and I wouldn't be against that.

That Cherry-Evans dude from Manly showed Pearce up.

And a nuffie like James Maloney was equal to him.

Friend is responsible for ensuring the team doesn't get flogged, like last night. let's not think he is ready for the captancy pressure and having to give post match interviews with Smith. Lets lave him where he is doing well ATM.

He might look like that droopy dog from the cartoons but he is far from a nuffy. He was a shining light in a pretty ordinary year for the sheepshaggers last year

Great player but I wouldn't give him the captaincy. I just think the workload would kill his game. The vice captaincy on the other hand...

I have envisioned a captaincy team of "My Name Is Todd C and I'm a friend of Dorothy" and Jake Friend post Souvlaki head but if neither of them can stay out of the shit, it would be like having Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke leading the Chooks.

Jake's not a big guy either!!! Why should he have to do 50+ tackles a game while the big boys do nothing? In my books we risk having Friend injured if he is allowed to do all the hard work week in week out. Not saying I don't want him to play his heart out, but where's the support?? I'd love to see Ryles, JWH, Nate and a bunch of other under-performing potential stars in there with him.

Going on the average game, if Myles, JWH and Kennedy do 20 tackles each then Friend could become an attacking weapon.

This is harkening back to the days when we had shit forwards and Bonetti did 40+ tackles every game.

Kennedy, JWH and Mose have believed the media bullshit that has started up around them. Hopefully this piss poor performance will nail shut any STOOL talk about Kennedy for the time being.
