Police to appeal sentence handed to Sydney Roosters player Todd Carney for latest drink-driving offence
Police claim the magistrate who allowed Todd Carney to keep his drivers licence was too lenient on the Sydney Roosters five-eighth.
Carney was on Wednesday given a two-year good behaviour bond for a low-range drink-driving charge in February, but police believe the sentence isn’t harsh enough and will appeal.
"The NSW Police Force intends to refer the matter to the Director of Public Prosecutions for consideration for an appeal," a police spokeswoman told Fairfax Media.
Carney, 24, recorded a blood-alcohol level of 0.052 when he was pulled over in the Sydney suburb of Coogee. As a P-plater, he is not allowed to have any alcohol in his system.
It was Carney's third drink-driving offence.

Really wish they'd just piss off and let him get on with it. Dragging it out is only going to hurt him.
But, if that/this is what it takes to wake him up, so be it.
