3 convictions for drink-driving in 5 years, reportedly [lawyers have contacted Ray Hadley, radio 2GB Sydney 873AM, 2gb.com] she should've declared Todd "an habitual offender" and suspended his driver licence for 5 years under "Habitual Offender Legislation".

After this has now hit the media the Premier has called for transcripts of the court 'trial' yesterday.

Prosecutors can take it to the supreme court if they don't like the decision...

Court isn't played out on 2GB or by O'Farrell (who sounds keen to prove he isn't just in by default with an "I'm not Labor" campaign... c'mon Barry, Where's your policies/action now you're in? Is attacking Todd Carney the best you can do???)

Carney has done a lot of community work, suffers from alcoholism due to his dad's psychiatric issues/death and was caught with a "low range" reading that would have been tossed out if he wasn't on his P's. He behaved decently, didn't resist arrest and plead guilty ASAP. He is VERY unlikely to reoffend because he knows that his life/career rest on it (i.e. the NRL will blacklist him and any breaches of his conditions will result in gaol time.)

I think the sentence is fair and we should all just move on. If he wasn't Todd Carney he would have been treated the same IMO...
What surprises me is that he still had alcohol in his system after drinking 10 beers at max. Say he started at 9:00...
      - 2 beers (9-10)
      - 8 beers (10-12)
      - caught at 7:00

For an AVERAGE person, 10 beers during this time would be okay (10 beers in 10 hours, with 2 in the first.) But c'mon... we all have a fat friend who can drink a 6-pack and still blow under the limit. Carney is not only a MACHINE but he's also an alcoholic, so would be pretty resiliant IMO. I don't believe he only had 10 beers...

I don't expect him to serve a gaol term, but... HOW THE HELL DOES HE HAVE A LICENSE?!

At the end of 2006 when he was on his green P's, he was charged with reckless drink driving and lost his license until the end of 2011.

In 2007 he led police on a high speed chase in Steve Irwin's ute, then went and hid up a tree. Irwin was charged with nothing, and got sacked, Carney was charged with failing to stop when directed by police, negligent driving and driving while disqualified and was banned from driving until 2012.

In 2011 he got charged with drink driving on his red P's (how the ****?) and someone retained his license, even though there's a zero tolerance policy for P plate drivers, and he has a driving record longer than my dick.

Anyone who believes this clown shouldn't be catching a bus to training needs to take their roosters hat off and put yourself in his situation. You would be in prison.

One wonders why Premier Bradbury (as in Steven, Barry Fatso is the luckiest prick in political history) doesn't ask for the police records about Kathryn Greiner's .11 blow back in the late 80s that was whitewashed.

I wonder if Carney is an alcoholic or simply uses the tag to assist him with the court system.

LOL Give it 16 years (or less) and people will realise that politicians from both sides are farked...

Considering he seems to be risking his job every twist and turn, maybe there is an underlining problem.

He has noted the issues his dad had with death and dimentia while growing up, so unless he is a chronic liar who uses his dad's death to his advantage (which would be pretty farked up), I believe him.

For a guy of Carney's size and strength, he must have had a lot more than 10 beers to still be DUI after sleeping it off. I'm his exact height and weight pretty well (with a beer gut rather than muscles) and 10 beers is nothing to me. It takes about 6-8 for me to feel anything. I need to drink hard spirits if I want to get seriously drunk to the point where I'd be DUI after sleeping it off. Example is last Saturday, I drank 5 BIG glasses of red wine within 2 hours, felt nothing and blew into my tester (and the cops tester) safely. I reckon Carney is at least twice as strong as me...

He is risking his job because he keeps getting caught. Just as a person will plead some sort of issue like stress, etc, so too Carney might be using that line to assist him in getting off.

I don't know the guy so I can't judge him but just throwing it out there.

He plays pretty good for a bloke that is an alcoholic.
