  • Todd carney avoids 6 months in prison

Just sentenced on the drink-driving charge today.
Driver licence suspended for 10 months...and 6 months in prison the sentence.

Then, luckily, the angry magistrate suspended the prison sentence.

Unfortunately, you have been given a life sentence of idiocy.

Magistrate Jacqueline Milledge said Carney had come within a hair's breadth of going to jail.

"I look at your driving record and it says to me you need to be taught a lesson. If you come back to me on any driving matter ... your feet won't hit the floor and you'll be out that door."

Correct, it's not funny, as he was sentenced to a 6 month prison term by the angry magistrate...angry that he wasn't in court at 9.30 am as demanded.
Then she suspended the sentence, and placed him a good behaviour bond for 6 months.
One more mistake, one, and he will find himself in prison, playing jail footy!

                    He was at training!

His lawyer, the same lawyer as Ibrahim reportedly has, allegedly advised him to go to training, that he could have the matter stood over until 2pm.
                    WRONG!

"How dare he not be here" 'barked' the female magistrate, one not to be messed with, from my past reading.

Then she gave his lawyer a dressing-down for Todd not being present, saying something about Todd not being 'special'.
"Get him here"! the magistrate tiraded his lawyer!

Steve Noyce tried to explain what happened to Hadley on the radio this morning.
He did his best, but Hadley and the callers were not impressed.

Maybe he needs a new lawyer.

Adult or not, I would've told him to get to the court at "3am" dressed in his best suit, and wait until he was called.
In fact, I would've called for him, in plenty of, plenty of, in plenty of time to make sure he arrived at the court, no matter what went wrong, flat tyre for example.

                    Disrespect the court?

                    Not I.

                    They hate that...hate it.
They take it as an insult to our system of justice.

TODD Carney has narrowly avoided jail time after impressing a magistrate with his work to overcome a drinking problem.

The Roosters star has just been given a six-month suspended jail sentence by Magistrate Jacqueline Milledge this morning who said he was "one step away from jail."

"But I'm giving you a chance because I think you're well worth that chance," Ms Milledge said.

In a dramatic morning at Waverley Local Court, Carney and his solicitor were 15 minutes late and kept Magistrate Milledge waiting in the courtroom.

She described Mr Alexander's tardiness as "absolutely disgraceful" and said no one in the court would be given "special treatment based on their celebrity status."

Mr Alexander acknowledge his client's "shocking" traffic record which already includes drink driving charges as well as offence of dangerous driving and drive while disqualified.

Ms Milledge told Mr Alexander his client was facing a custodial sentence for the offence and told him to "concentrate on telling me why he shouldn't go to jail today."

The reigning Dally M medallist pleaded guilty last month to low-range drink driving - his third such charge in six years.

The 24-year-old was pulled over on the morning of February 26 on the way to a meeting at the SFS with his manager and returned a breath test of 0.052.

As a P-plate driver, it is illegal for Carney to have any alcohol in his system while on the road.

He was supported in court by his mother Leanne and a representative from the Salvation Army, the organisation through which Carney is completing a positive lifestyle campaign.

She has a point even though most judges have no sense of reality.. His list of offenses is ordinary.

10 beers for a guy who knows the many misdemeanours he has had occurred when he drank alcohol.

I know how I would feel the next morning after 10 beers and it wouldn't be feeling right to get behind a wheel.

I hope the magistrate has scared the sh!t out of him to keep away from the grog and from those who influence him to have a drink.

He is a very lucky boy but his luck will run out if he thinks he can get away with it each time because of high paid lawyers and his celebrity status.

If I were Todd I'd remove the battery from my vehicle, pump up the tyres, and post the keys to a responsible relative, to make sure I were not tempted to just drive to the shops, or take the car for a short drive to turn the motor over, and land myself back in court.

As Nick Darcy, he's on his last chance.
Nick Darcy has his father to mentor, guide, and pay for a minder/bodyguard to accompany Nick everywhere.

                              Todd hasn't.
Todd needs a responsible older person to live with, drive and accompany him everywhere, for 6 months at least.
                              A chaperone, basically.

                              He's still a kid!...in reality.

Jack Gibson would likely call him 'the kid'...''the kid' needs a good and reputable mentor'.
