    that's precisely the problem tbh

its like theres exactly two modes to how he plays:
    -pass whilst standing still
    -simply run/step

he definitely needs to be able to run, draw and pass... fortunately, we saw it in the 79th minute when he linked with todd.. but thats not enough

I think he tries to take the line on but he just isn't robust enough.

He looks big enough but he just isn't as sharp as other players off the mark.

Look how Carney scored that try yesterday, just so explosive.

imo, funnily enough, Kennedy began firing last year when he copped that falcon off the kick off in the dogs match lol

We beat half a side with Benji trying his best. I want to beat the Scum with Soward at his best before I say we're Grand Final bound again.

Still, have to say Pearce is doing better than Matt Orford.

Sadly, all you do is grudgingly say He did ok for 20 minutes against a very tired and injured team. Against the Dragons, he will cost us in the last 20 minutes.

              Very average Buddy
He did ok for 20 minutes against a very tired team. He wasn't a standout. That is acknowledgment on what he had done previously. One flick pass does not give him the right to a spot in our best 17. He still looks very unfit and would struggle more than 20 minutes. Against a stronger team than the tigers put out yesterday I think he would go less than ok. And if Friend is playing 80 minutes, would we have a better bench with FPN or Tasi or would you stick with Piggy?

That is a question for you.

Friend playing 80 mins yesterday was great though...
What are you talking about? Where is the quote that FPN or Tasi are to take on hooking duties? I said if Friend plays for 80 minutes then our bench wuold be better off with FPN or Tasi instead of playing Piggy for 20 minutes.

I was thinking the same Chook. The humiliation he suffered that dreaded day inspired him to do better.....and hasn't he come a long way.
Marty will capt our team one day imo, and if he does so, he will join another bookend legend - Royce Ayliffe in captaining Aust Schoolboys and then the RWB .

Anasta, Symonds and Myles play close to the 80 minutes.

3 bench forwards is enough. You don't need 4 forwards on the bench. A utility player or replacement hooker offers much more to the team.

Riddell is no mug he can be very crafty out of dummy half.

You also have to consider injuries. If Friend gets injured and we have 4 big forwards on the bench we are screwed.

                          Myles has played R1 - 56min, R2 - 60min, R3 - 47min, R4 - 47min. Not quite close to 80 minutes.

If FPN and/or Ryles comes in this week it may be at the expense of Symonds and leaving Piggy. I would rather Symonds as my utility than Piggy. We don't need another hooker if Friend plays 80 minutes again. If Piggy's utility value is also for the backrow then we have plenty of cover there.

If Friend gets injured in the first minute I doubt that Piggy would play 80 minutes. So there would be a backup option in place in any case. You are taking a stupid risk if you are thinking that Friend will be injured so let's take up a bench spot for the sake of 20 minutes. The likelihood of that happening is minimal.

Symonds won't be dropped, but he isn't a utility any more. He can play backrow - and at a stretch, fill in at centre.

If Ryles comes into the team it will be at Conns expense. Hopefully that won't happen though.

I doubt Conn will be dropped. If FPN and Ryles come back into the team it will be at the expense of Arona and probably Symonds. I can't see JWH or Masoe going anywhere.

If Friend plays 80 minutes then Piggy's utility value is lost. He does not offer the roaming backrower qualities or defense ability of Symonds especially if Maubs continues at centre.

I don't think Friend will play 80 minutes in many games. Smith left him on yesterday to mininise the number of big slow forwards we had on in the last 20 minutes as they are targets for the Benji Marshall side step. We were up by 12 and Smith wanted our best defensive team on the field.

Most teams are going to run plenty of traffic at Friend. To have no option but to play Friend for 80 minutes is a bad plan.
