Gould summed it up when he said his apprenticeship is over...

Was such a top performance on Friday, directed us around the park and his all round kicking game was immense.

First time in a while I've been really excited about him, his past starts to a season have been energetic and at times erratic. On Friday he was composed and put in a real origin style performance.

Can't wait to watch him go round this season...

Agreed but i would love to see him run more straight at the line and take it on himself a bit more which he did a few times on friday but not enough.

That might change once we have Carney back on board.

The thing about Pearce has been his consistent, ongoing improvement. He clearly is not afraid to keep learning and developing.

Those who bag him often forget his age, and where the great halves were at at a similar age.

This bloke is key to our success.

Once Carney is there and the defence is worried about him slicing through, Pearce will be able to exploit this by taking in the line himself.

It was indeed a commanding performance but i agree with alex^.. he forgot about what he said in the off season about running straight lines!!

i guess this will change when Carney comes back

Pearce did have a good game Friday night BUT, there certainly is still room for improvement!! A couple of his cross field kicks were $hit, his 2 inside balls to Mose were very ordinary, a few of the times he chose to run were not the right times for it, there were a few sets of six when on the attack inside $ouff$ half when we were totally rudderless and completely wasted great opportunities! Fair enough it is round 1 and there will be a bit of rust, its just that i have really high expectations of Pearce!

if Carney misses a few more games i think it will help Pearce develop his game, More time with the ball, and being forced to take control

                      kicking was good, directing ok.
                      running sideways didn't help.

Also I think its up to the team leaders, and pearce is one, should have steadied the ship and stopped the rot during the second half.

I was not that convinced of Pearce having a great game, good perhaps but not great

                        Agree KB,

Still a lot of improvement needed, another week without Todd will give him another opportunity to shine against Manly (if Todd is out).

Potential has always been there, time to step up to the plate Mitchell.

his kicking game was superb, consistently found grass when kicking for position, a couple of brilliantly weighted aerial attacking kicks and those last 2 bullet touch finders in the last 10 minutes when the pressure was on.
a brilliant pass to leilua to set up his try as well, thought he played extremely well, will only get better with todd outside him
I support two NRL teams, the Roosters and whoevers playing Souths

I agree - he's been getting big wraps in the media but I thought he was okay rather than great.

I'd like to see him run at the line more - hopefully that will come when Carney comes back and relieves the pressure on him.

                              Pearce is 21.

How many halfbacks are great at that age?

Thinking of the last 3 great halves Johns, Fittler and Lockyer. For me they played their best footy at 30.

Pearce is good now but he has so much improvement in him.
