  • Linnett.....

I have been tossing up the idea of dropping linnett for Maubs in the centres and tom symonds in second row as i was so impressed with symonds form in the trials. I also like the idea of having two ball-playing-work-horse-back-rowers in the side (anasta left/symonds right). HOWEVER after watching a replay of rd 20 chooks v broncs linnett had an outstanding game shutting down falou and playing some real smart footy making good reads in defense and running good lines.

I wonder how smith is going with the line up?

Keep tossing. He is the fastest player in our team. Do you remember the game against Parra as well when he plucked the ball out of the air, sprinted some 80M before a beautiful flick to Graham? He also made a nice break in the Foundation Cup and his defense is far better than SKD. Like Anasta plays out on the left, there is no reason for Symonds not to do the same on the right. This of course leaves Maubs. The problem is Anasta/Maubs/Symonds play long minutes but I don't think we should drop Linnett for that reason.

Yeh Symonds was impressive he's put on some weight as well and hits hard in defence. At the moment though Maubs and Linnett deserve to retain there spots so Symonds is just going to have to wait for his opportunity.

            good agree with you more.

As for linnet i felt in the trials he was a little hesitant and stand offish, but i guess all the boys were rusty except friendy, he looked ready to go. pearce too. Linnet should definately retain his spot i have always been a fan since game 1 as he is a smart player, as well as gifted, which is what we need. Just a shame for symonds as the spot was his last season untill he got injured and now even though he played great football in the trials ( one of the best on field i thought both games) he wont be in the 17. its a tough game.

If Symonds is playing well, there will be plenty of opportunities. On average there will be 3 or 4 player injured on the bench each week - plus rep footy requirements for the backrowers (Myles at least - maybe Maubs). Hopefully Cordner will be in the same rotation.

We have many great problems this year with all the depth we have in the forwards. I can't wait to see Tasi play in first grade too. I think he will get his shot before Cordner. After two years out of the game, I can see Cordner playing NYC all year without putting and unnecessary pressure on the kid. There is also the good wing problem with BJ and Carney.

                      I agree

I'm home today and they just replayed the Bris v Roosters game. Linnett's defence on Falou in that game was superb

If for some reason Linnett isn't in the team it will almost certainly be some combination of BJ/Carney/Graham as wing and centre.

Linnett is a walk-up starter...He is a genuine centre...I believe he will go well this year..
