FWIW we won the Trials last year... Tigers came 3rd and we came 6th...
Sure we made the GF, but it wasn't like we had a cruisy season, we just happened to come good during the finals season.
One reason I like being a Roosters fan is the ups and downs. We always have our setbacks, but a good team can hold things together regardless of setbacks. In all seriousness... Watts, Cherro, Guerra, Graham Carney and (maybe) T. Carney out... most of them are fringe players at best and I doubt Watts would have pipped Friend anyway. Bar Todd Carney we pretty well have a full strength team... and hey... he's fit! Who says he won't play? I'm optimistic...
2009 Was BULLSH!T... 2011 will be 2011, not 2009. The boys look fit and Smithy has the support of the boys. My guess it that the best is yet to come and we lost the trials because the other teams had the psychology going that they HAD to win against last year's runners up. We on the other hand:
- Had nothing to prove.
- Wanted to test our wealth of young blokes (after our NYC team + the Jets killed it last season.)
- Didn't want anybody getting hurt.
---
I'd be silly to think that the injuries won't hurt us, but in the scheme of things... I reckon we have the depth to handle it. We survived last season without J. Carney, Watts, Cherro, Guerra and Graham, and I'm sure we can do it again.

This year we have enormous amount of depth, Carney starts the season at 5/8, injuries haven't really impacted the core of our first grade team from last year, the young guns from last year (BJ, Linnett, JWH, Friend, Kennedy, Masoe) have a year of success under their belt, we have bought some handy players (Carney, Watts, Tasi) to add to our depth not forgetting Symonds is back. We have the cattle. All we need is the passion.
