    Phil Rothfield
    Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 11:08pm

I believe Todd Carney must be handed the biggest punishment in the NRL arsenal if found guilty of his drink-drive charge.

Join me live online at 1pm to discuss the Carney situation and the ramifications for the game.

Send your questions and comments now.

Be sure to get on there and throw in your support for Todd! If your comments make it!

i guess we can FLOOD him with questions as to why Burbon beckky is still working in light of her previously being charged for drink driving, or why he did not do something like this when Lockyer was accused of sexually assulting a woman.

Rothfield has a clear agenda, so much for the media being impartial.....then again, it is the tellucrap !

Already a thread on this. I'm thinking Media Watch might be a point of call. It's bordering on slander.

Yes, but surely the judge can use his/her discretion in this case.
He went home, had a sleep and thought he was doing the right thing.
He didn't walk straight out of the pub, jump in his car and drive home!
If he'd have done that i'd say throw the book at him!
It was an innocent mistake IMO!

In context, while criminal, I can think of much worse things that Todd could have done (which would deserve harsher punishments.) Todd needs support right now, not an overly harsh punishment (the cops/courts are involved, so he's already being punished.)

If the cops got involved in what happened on-field there'd be lots of more serious crimes such as assault. Danny Wicks comes to mind as somebody who deserved the "biggest punishment in the NRL arsenal." Carney with a low-range DUI? Punish him sure... but factor in the fact he's already being punished by the law (probably spent a night in the watchhouse unable to sleep in amongst a pack of smelly criminals, and will have to face the courts...etc.) He's already been severely punished, I think the NRL has an obligation to support him, and possibly slap him with a light punishment to let the other clubs know they're serious/consistent.

Or Micheal Picker or trevor Thurling.

I am not happy with what he did and if he gets of alchohol and looks at positive steps i am all for it. I worked for an alchoholic for three years and they tried to kick in a numerous occasion. I think if they get professional help ongoing from the Roosters i would be happy with that,
