  • Just as a matter of interest ?

I know Todd Carney earns a s**t load of money, therefor he has to behave a LOT different than the rest of us folk. But just interested to hear from other Roosters supporters, and others.

Have you ever driven to work...or down to the shops to get bread, milk, paper, after having drinks the night before, and been guilty of the knowledge that if I got pulled over I would be over the limit ?

A lot more than once for me.

Personally, i don't think the amount of money has anything to do with it, i mean regardless of what he earns, he is still human.

What does make the difference is the status he holds (either by choice or thrust upon him, which ever way you look at it). He has the history, was deemed to be reformed and has now fallen again.

he was last years NRL poster boy and can be percieved by some as a role model.

As to driving to work, the shops ect......i can say, no i haven't. I am on my P's like Carney, i understand the rules that my blood alcohol limit is 0.00, How do i avoid getting picked up by the cops, I don't drink. And if i do, i make sure i am not driving any time soon after that.

Last year he did a fantastic job of staying off the drink (as far as what is public knowledge), the club will support him to do the same, i hope he can keep off the drink for good, he is too good a talent to waste on alcohol.

On a side note, was good to see the amount of support he got at the fan day today.

Didn't say I condoned it Mario, nor would I ever drive from a night out. I'm not a P plater, but I know the next morning you feel/think you're fine to drive and that is not always the case....but it can happen.

The money point about Carney was a fair point. As I said in another post, he drives a 4x4 big Dodge Nitro. Your standard 24 yr old can't afford one of those. Rightly picked up by the cops, but there were probably a few thousand blokes his age in every day normal cars yesterday morning driving around Sydney at that time registering the same alco limit that were'nt sporting an in your face vehicle....Just part of life !

I reckon Toddy is being way too harsh on himself. It's a natural reaction, but seriously, after all he went through, this really isn't a "fall," it's more of a minor speedbump.

By all accounts, it was done unknowingly without any form of malicious intent, and he showed a lot of sorrow and regret for having been ignorant as to his being over the limit.

I just hope it spurs him on to something better.

Also on my P's but there definitely would have been times early on in the day after a big night out that I'd have been over the limit. I was feeling absolutely fine but clearly it takes a while for all the alcohol to get out of your system, and i knew full well if I'd been breathalised i'd have been above 0
I support two NRL teams, the Roosters and whoevers playing Souths

            Never have.

But the next time anyone thinks I'll take a chance that I won't get pulled over for either DUI or speeding, maybe the mentality should be I'll take the chance that I won't kill someone's kid and end up fcuking that family's life up as well as my own.

There had been times where i got out of bed and straight away realised that i need some more sleep before driving.

Other times, i felt fine despite some alcohol being left in my system from last night.

Still a crime but not to the level that people are making it out to be.

How many people here used their phone while driving ? Or drove when they felt tired ? Those are just as if not more dangerous than a low level BAC.

Lets just expand the field a bit more: how about bad drivers in general ? How many people do they kill a year ? What if by mistake you are speeding and change lanes without looking ? Does this make you a criminal ?

In my eyes, it makes you as much of a criminal as a low level BAC does.

The guy is a dumbass but to label him as a master-criminal-killer-in-waiting is going a bit too far. The drama police need to turn their sirens off.

                Spot On!!!!!!

Not one driver on this forum has not been distracted by a quick perve at someone on the footpath / crossing, just as dangerous as a low level reading and twice as deadly, especially if your partner is seated next to you.

There are two things that perplex me about this whole situation:
                          1) Why is Todd having a meeting with his financial adviser that requires Todd to be on the road at 7am on a Saturday morning? Surely such a meeting could have been held at a later hour with a good chance that Todd would have eaten something before driving.
                          2) Why did the copper in question feel the need to go to the trouble of letting Todd pass him on the road, then pull Todd over and breath test him? It seems to me that the copper has deliberately gone out of his way.

On an unrelated note, why is Todd so stupid?

Back on topic, I don't drink so I would never find myself in the same situation. As for the other things that some have compared to a low level BAC, I would add eating in the car as well to the list of things one shouldn't do whilst driving that could be viewed as being just as dangerous.

The answer for question 2 would be that those cops would have been tipped off by the person who was assigned by an organization (most likely dailytellucrap) to follow Carney.

we see the guy most mornings in the carpark

they have an 8am briefing on Todd's likely movements for the day, then he's off

he drives an oldish Camry so as not to look suspicious
