  • Forwards for this year

I just wanna see who people think should be our forwards and bench this year???
    Mine is
    8-Kennedy
    9-Friend
    10-Ryles
    11-Anasta
    12-Maubs
    13-Myles

    14-Riddel
    15-JWH
    16-FPN
    17-Cherro/BJ/Conn
Would love to see Cordner get a shot in FG this year

I think people are forgetting about Tasi.

Sure he's young, and raw, but those who would know claim he's better than JWH.

Cordner will go gangbusters, hopefully, but hasn't played for a while. Tasi is coming off a season where he was ridiculously dominant as a front rower in the NYC, and I reckon he'll crack FG at some point this year.

I would still play Kennedy off the bench this year with the odd start. Then Start him in 2012 when Ryles is gone!! I also think Conn needs to be in the side. Does all the hard work and can play front or second row. His offloads were very damaging last year!!

Coach Smith is impressed with the progression of former Penrith junior Tinirau(spelling) Arona.
He was the Jets player of ther year in 2010 and i'm predicting he'll debut this year.
Incidentally, his brother Daniel was a standout in last years SG Ball winning team.

No one has mentioned big Mose yet.

I'd love to see him off the bench.

I reckon that Isaac Maliota will be a real bolter this year..

Fk I made multiple attempts and couldn't settle on a forward pack. Definately a headache for Smith. I see why he's contemplating putting Maubs in the centres to make more room.

So everyone keeps saying but until someone puts their hand up and proves themselves as a first grade front rower I'd be hanging on to him as long as possible.

Kennedy, JWH, Masoe, Arona etc are all potential.

Kennedy showed the most substance to his performances and started to find some consistency but doing that over the stretch of a full season is a different story.

Frontrowers: Jason Ryles, Nate Myles, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Martin Kennedy, Daniel Conn, Mose Masoe, Lama Tasi, Tinirau Arona, Isaac Maliota (Jets contracted but training with Roosters), Boyd Strickland (Jets contracted but training with Roosters)

Backrowers: FP Nuuausala, Mitchell Aubusson, Anthony Cherrington, Brad Takairangi, Aiden Guerra, Willie Mataka, Joseph Leilua (NYC eligible), Boyd Cordner (NYC eligible)

Locks: Braith Anasta, Tom Symonds, Kurt Kara (Jets contracted but training with Roosters)

There is one other bloke I am forgetting, played for Parramatta NYC last year, but I don't think he was regularly a forward anyway. That is pretty outstanding depth IMO.

Anasta is not a lock. When he plays in "13", it is by name only. He is a left side backrower only. Locks play in the middle of the field. They need to roll up their sleeves and get the dirty stuff done..

IMO - Nate Myles, Frank-Paul and Daniel Conn are our best locks..(Maybe Aubbuson).

I agree with Mack, Nate Myles needs to bulk up a bit and move up to the front row as he plays more like a front rower anyway. And he can take over from Ryles as our cornerstone next year if we don't re-sign santa.

                          Chook.

Got to agree......I really want to see Kennedy, Ryles, Masoe, Arona, Tasi, FPN, Myles, Conn, JWH, Maubs, BJ, Symonds and Cherrington all out on the field at once - but alas I also wouldn't mind seeing Cordner or the massive prop Verlinden from Newtown. (get this guy fitter and he'd be a beast off the bench)

The only guy I'm not overly concerned about seeing is Guerra, he's a solid reggie/fringe first grader........can do the job from time to time but we have so much talent in the backrow that he'll be seeing more of Newtown.

                            Good luck Smithy!

Our forward depth is awesome. If Maubs moves into the centres and perhaps Linnett onto the wing it might work. I'm not so sure about both Maubs and Anasta in the pack together.

I really want to see one of these big boppers step up this year as well. If Masoe can really step up this year and become a regular in the FG team it should be a great combo with Ryles and Kennedy. If our props can dominate I think we will be very hard to beat this year.
