I am sure this trial there will make all the difference.

Good place to watch footy, worth the trip.

I try to get out to the NSW Cup games when they are held there. It's very old school and I kinda like watching NSW Cup go around whilst trying to imagine some of the ghosts of the old Winfield Cup and NSWRL are running around.

Sadly, we don't use Belmore Oval any more. Special place for us. Although, Laurie Daley once said he would prefer to play us on the Hume Highway than at Belmore.

            I love the old grounds.

with the amount of cars parked in the ground daily, it is just like the hume highway

So do I. They had atmosphere and charm, especially North Sydney.
Not like the impersonal concrete mountains! Still...I love the SFS. It seems to retain the ghosts of the Sportsground.
Anyone remember the tiny wooden stand at Lidcombe?

Well said mate. I love the old grounds and the sense of history/nostalgia you get from visiting them. I still remember watching a game in probably 1979 or 1980 at Cumberland Oval (which despite my sentimentality was a shithole). Or going to Henson Park or Belmore Oval as a kid as well, not to mention the Roosters at the Sydney Sports ground. It was great! Leichhardt Oval is a nice place. Parking wasn't too good last time I was there but it is worth the inconvenience.

Cumberland Oval was a scary place, especially for a 12 year old. Shithole is being kind. If they hadn't burnt it down, I think I would have done it for them.

I spent a lot of time at the old Jubilee Oval, it was close to home and we also used it as our school ground. I remember a mid week game there in 1974 between Saints and the Roosters. Our PE teacher was the Saints trainer, and many guys basically went from our A Grade side straight into Presidents Cup when it was the grade below U23's. The Roosters had Fairfax, Schubert, Brass, Artie, "The Axe", John Peard, Johnnie Mayes and co running around. Saints had Langlands, Smith, Reddy, Beath, Finch and co.

The old Sports Ground was a classic too, especially that raised hill at the, I think, North Eastern corner where you could watch the goings on on the SCG No 2.

I once had a kick around there with Graham Eadie whilst waiting for our A-Grade game to start. I was the ball boy for the school.
