  • Kennedy signs for 4 years

Kennedy has been signed until the end of 2014, he put pen to paper today.

Seems the club is looking for longer termed deals for it's younger players.

    Cheers

If this is true it's great news, Marty has great potential and will be THE front rower of the comp in a few years imo.

fantastic news and good approach from the club. following on from the enormous success of 2011 the club is locking up players that should be the core of our team for years to come. look forward to hearing the official announcement. any news on the long term deal that SKD was supposed to sign???

Why do I not believe these people who are talking about these long term contracts?

Gallus also started the other thread about SKD re-signing to a long term contract. Lets just see how this all plays out.

I really hope this isn't a gee up because Kennedy is a gun.

It is healthy to be sceptical.

It makes sense though - there was word that the Melbourne Storm were looking to throw a few dollars (and speed boats?) at him.

Gallus will be on the ball with these ones... Not that I am in the know but he has been on the mark before and another poster who is very rarely wrong (Fred68) also indicated the club would be announcing some big re-signings prior to the season start...

Let's face it, a smart club would want to lock away its best talent before the season begins to prevent players from being distracted from contract talks mid-season. Particularly the less experienced players. This is one of the advantages of long term deals, they lessen the amount of times players can be put off by mid-season negotiations which can be disruptive.

Fantastic news. Kennedy would have been the big fish that got away if we let it happen. He will be the best prop in the game within the next 2-3 years in my opinion. Can't wait to see him get to his peak.

The Kennedy name and the word 'gun' have been seen in the same sentence for many years now!

Good to see the Roosters showing faith in their youngsters. It must give a young bloke a lot of confidence. It also gives the Roosters a solid core of players in the long term.

Now the only challenge is to keep them motivated in the middle part of their contracts. Hopefully success will be motivation enough.

Yeup, add me to that as well!

Marty is definitely a keeper and there were times last year when I thought he really overshadowed the other props. Bodes well for good times ahead for him and the Roosters.
