He is on our cap this year - together with Mason, Williamson and another one I can't remember.

They drop off next year but some like Linnett and Kennedy are on peanuts and will need massive upgrades.

Kennedy is awesome. it would be beyond stupid to let him go.
Forget Blair, if he won't have a go in NYC then he is history.

Probably nothing. I would expect that the pounds he was getting in the UK probably would have offset what we were paying him.. Mason on the other hand does free up some cash which admittedly has problem gone straight into upgrades.

Shrek & mason are two of our most expensive players this year on our books. Considering they were playing for other clubs, makes Brian smiths achievements this year even more remarkable.

Yes - as I understand it, O'Meley asked for a release and the Easts agreed, thus leaving the contract null and void.

Mason was a different story because we moved him on, and were still responsible for contracted amount to be paid...

I was not sure that it would be made public why if Mason was stamped "Never to play for Easts again", but I may be wrong....

I am pretty sure O'Meley was pushed but I reckon it is moot as I doubt he was getting less than what we were paying him or at most it would be loose change.

You think Anasta is going to get an upgraded contract?? I love the bloke but not likely.

Shrek was one of our better paid forwards this year.

I would still be holding out on giving Anasta an extension.. We have a plethora of backrowers and his workload is not high enough tbh.. I would probably lean towards thanking him for the memories at the end of next season.. His experience is valuable but he will be pushing for a 3 year extension without a doubt and that is far too long for a guy of his age.. I would think he may be worth a one year extension but he would not accept that.

Wasn't Sa the other player on our books till next year? I agree with holding out on Anasta to a certain extent. I think with Carney permanetly our 5/8, we need to see how Anasta goes with the switch into the backrow next season. He got switched pretty late, so I think a full pre-season with him working on combinations with Carney, Pearce and co will do him wonders.

                                From Newtown Website

Tough front-row forward, Tinirau Arona, was the popular winner of the club's best and fairest and best forward awards for 2010. Arona was a mainstay of the Jets' forward pack and has been rewarded with a contract with the Sydney Roosters in 2011.

Fellow front-rower, Khalid Deeb, won the prestigious Fred Daly Memorial Shield award which is given to the player who has made strong contributions to the club on and off the field.

Tall five-eighth, Johnathon Ford, won the best back award, while classy centre, Tu'u Maori, took out the most improved award as well as being the club's top points-scorer.

Winger, Troy Savage, won the coach's award and utility forward, Ray Moujalli, had the rare honour of being judged the players' player for the second year in succession.

Fullback, Luke Towers, who will be playing with the French club, Limoux, this summer, was the Newtown club's top try-scorer.

Centre, Chris Tuatara-Morrison, received a special award for humanitarianism in recognition of an outstanding act of good citizenship that he performed some weeks ago.
