When your already sitting there with a poncho/rain jacket on, there's no need to put an umbrella up and obstruct other people's view of the game. We don't pay hundreds of dollars to look at umbrellas. Ignoring polite requests to put them down make other people angry, and therefore its no surprise that some people got agitated. The worst thing I saw though was the two grown men (30s or 40s) standing in Aisle 142 with a bit under 10 minutes left, pointing umbrellas at each other, yelling and swearing. The pair of them are a disgrace.
While I couldn't be prouder of the players' efforts, I was extremely disappointed in some of our "fans" and their attitudes. I've only ever been ashamed of being seated in a group of Roosters fans once before, and unbelievably, it was also against St. George-Illawarra.
To you people that turn up for the big games only, stay away, because everybody else has a much better time without you there.
I'm no prude but some of the language i heard coming from some of our supporters was disgusting. The things that were said about Jamie Soward i would not repeat,i don't mind someone having a rib about a player but some of what was said was totally unexeceptable to anyone. That said most of our supporter were great yeterday but it only takes one or two to sour it for everyone around them.

Just to put things in perspective I went to work today, expecting to cop a hammering from all and sundry ( as a fair few of the guys I work with are Saints, Tigers and Souths supporters and they know I am 100% Rooster).

So imagine my surprise when the Dragons supporters commiserated with me with total sincerity and no malice whatsoever. Obviously they were stoked but in no way did they rub it in at all.

The other guys (Tigers and Souths fans) were really great too saying how proud we should be coming from last to 2nd (which I totally am).

For the whole day not a nasty word was said, which is rare as I work in an environment where it's usually no holds barred.

All clubs (even Souths) have good fans, it's just the a s s holes who ruin it.

It was good lesson in parenting as despite my disappointment I had to show my 13yo son that sometime life throws you bad calls and you have to cop it on the chin and move forward with dignity and respect. Also that the only thing worse than a sore loser is a bad winner.

The only good thing to come out of the movie Vanilla Sky was the saying "The sweet ain't as sweet without the bitter" 2011, 2012 and beyond will be very sweet for the fans and Smithy the legend.

Funk, I agree with almost everything you said, Vanilla Sky had one other thing going for it.

Penelope Cruz. She stopped me from hunting down Cameron Crowe Rogue Male style.

One of my mates was at the game, he's a Sharkies fan but hates Dragons supporters with a passion.
This was a series of text messages I received from him after ther game........

          'Hate the Dragons. ARSEHOLES!!!!'

          followed by

'I'm actually just having a leak over the balcony on them. They think its rain but I know better!'

          and finally

'I might finish with a Nate Myles as well!'

It's disgraceful that they did that to a young girl.

Hopefully the karma bus will come around and they suffer next year....I'm starting to realise my hate for them is on par with the souffs.
