  • Soward's "gift"

They just had a story on Channel 10 sport about Brian Clay, the 5/8th for most of St George's grand final run in the 50's and 60s, giving Soward his father's socks to wear on Sunday.

Will Tony Archer get to wear Darcy Lawler's socks as well?

You know what, I think the Roosters should dedicate this win (Freddy willing) to Jack Gibson, for being beaten by 18 players in 1963.

        To clarify.

I mean to write "Brian Clay's son" but did not.

Brian Clay has been deceased for 23 years.

They could come in handy. With all the rain predicted the bench players could huddle under them for cover!

There were 2 replacements available actually, but they had to have played the full game in Reserve Grade.

                          Half right

teams can replace a maximum of two injured players up to and including halftime

They changed it again in 1970 to

Two replacements for injured players allowed at any time during a game, provided those replacements had played at least half of a lower-grade game

to be fair, the physical demands of today's game are probably a lot harsher.. with all players carrying more kgs etc
