Well ladies and Gentlemen, the time has come for our final face off. Some of you may be aware that I can be a fickle fan at times, some may even say a team swapper. But I feel after being on this site for over a year that it’s time to let out my strong Wollongong heritage.
Hubert Jorgan II was born in Wollongong Hospital on the 4th May 1964 and got his first full mongrel in 1980 with the knowledge that the Illawarra community was pregnant, and was a short period away from delivering a NSWRL team that was going to be christened as the Illawarra Steelers.
1982 was a tough but exciting year for Allan (coach Fitzgibbon) and myself. I would get in Joe Cools ear all the time, but we were just shyte.
Moving on 17 years to 1999, I’m left supporting the merged entity that consisted of a team I once thought were a deadest pack of c**ts and my beloved Steelers. I would attend all the games at WIN stadium, but I would only look at their socks as that was pretty well all that seemed left representing the once proud Steelers.
Moving on another 11 years from our unfortunate loss to the Melbourne Storm, I’m ready to celebrate what will be my first Premiership trophy win with Mentor Bennett and the boys. I just wish we had our boys Rylesy, Fitzy, and Baz back to help hold that elusive home bound trophy above their heads, and say………”Hugh…thanks for everything. You are the glue in this merger”.
Most of all. I hope a st george ILLAWARRA win on Sunday, will not have any adverse effects on myself contributing on this forum in the future, as you are a tremendous bunch of people with a very healthy passion for your team, and the game of Rugby League.
God bless
Hugh Jorgan
