  • Since Carney went to 5/8th

Since Todd moved to 5/8th we have played 15 games, we have won 11 and lost 4 and we have scored 385 points and conceded 241, Average score 26 to 16.

In St Georges last 15 games they have won 11 and lost 4 and they have scored 320 points and conceded 188, Average score 21 to 12.

There is absolutely nothing in this, and the only reason The Merge are favourites is because they were minor premiers last year, and we were wooden spooners.

It wont be the upset many people think if we win, because when you look at the performances over the last month we should be red hot favourites.

In the last 5 games we have scored 133 and conceded 55, our average score is 27 to 11.

In St georges last 5 games they have scored 121 and conceded 86, their average score is 24 to 17.

All the pressure is on THEM, we are on a roll, we WANT them, they are shitting themselves about facing US.

Get on us to win. We are overs.

My point is that Carney moving to 5/8th has made the TEAM work better. With Carney at fullback we won 6 and lost 6, since the move to 5/8th weve won 11 and lost 4.

Thanks for the stats Roosdaman. It spells things out pretty clearly. I really think we are on the rise and the St.Merge scum are on the decline. I really think they are shitting themselves at the moment.

                  I have two concerns;

                  1) How our young squad handle the week and Grand Final day
                  2) The referees

If we cut at least even in those 2 we win, that simple.

The reffing is a worry, but we have some calm heads in the team, who have been there and done that at the highest level, Mini, Braith, Myles, Ryles, and remember we have 4 who have played internationals for NZ and two absolute champions in Junior and Todd...... plus some future stars in Kennedy, Friend, Linnett, and BJ.

And a great coach who has given them the direction and belief they need.

                    Its all good

You saw the referees last night. The Tigers adopted the same defensive tactics as the saints and got hammered 5-0 at one stage.

they got hammered in the penalty count coz they were waaaaaaay offside.. it worked for most of the part but towards the latter parts of the game it showed

The saints are constantly going too early. They cover more than 10m in less than a second from a standing start which makes them much quicker than Usaine Bolt.

There was a blatant offside after a Tigpies half break when the entire team got back 7 at best yet once again not penalised.

3 of the opening 5 penalties were really harsh and not worthy of being blown in such a massive match, the Dragons always seem to get them though.

I think Carneys Dally M has been a blessing because everybody wants to shut him down. Carney/Pearce always seem to have 2 or 3 guys on them, leaving braith and mini to do their magic without too many issues if Conn/Nate/Ryles/FPN/JWH/Friend are doing their jobs (which is usually the case this season! Last year we just had Willie Wanka ****ing around and Fitzgibbon doing all the work with Pearce and Braith getting smashed.)

I love how much heart and depth we have this season! 2 Old blokes behind me in a cafe down near Moruya were talking about how we possibly have better forwards and halves than the dragons. Time will tell (I rate the Dragons forwards...) but we have play makers all over the field. Also our forwards have all improved whereas I think the Dragons have stayed about the same. This time last year people were calling for FPN to be sacked. I think him, Conn and Friend will make a big difference because they have improved.

In my opinion the NRL finals are a bit like the Stawell Gift. You have got your cap at the start of the season, and need to improve over the season in order to have a team that is worth more than they are being paid. We have done this whereas the Dragons sacked all their up and coming players in order to sign Gaz.

Again time will tell, but I think our investment in young/risky/hot&cold/weathered players (carney, friend, conn, linnett, leilua, JWH, FPN, Mini, Braith...etc) has paid off. I bow to uncle Nick coz if we had failed this season, people would be asking for the heads of sooo many players on that list! Instead they have all improved and come together as a team.

I'm almost crying... what a cocktail of success stories! All the Dragons can boast is that they crammed Gaz in under the cap (somehow...)
