Roosters' Dally M winning five-eigth Todd Carney has escaped suspension with a low grade charge on his careless high tackle on the Titans' Scott Prince on Friday night and will be clear to play in the 2010 Telstra Premiership Grand Final next Sunday.
Carney received a grade 1 charge which carries 56 points for an early plea and only 75 for a guilty plea, meaning he is free to play in the Premiership-decider against the Dragons at ANZ Stadium.
The incident occurred in the 37th minute of their Preliminary Final win over the Gold Coast at Suncorp Stadium and had Carney nervously awaiting the NRL Match Review Committee's decision.
The Dragons' lock Jeremy Smith was also charged - for dangerous contact with the knee in the 73rd minute against the Tigers last night - but he will escape a 1-week suspension with an early plea."Do you expect me to talk"? "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die".

I am now sure that the NRL wants the Saints to win for that old redneck bastard Bennett.

I'm yet to see any reference to that in the tackling manual.

Great that CARNEY will be able to play, but this really irks me that he was even sighted. We have all seen far worse tackles let go over the last few weeks (hit on Warea Hargreaves), and this nothing incident warrants him being sighted??? He barely made contact with the bottom part of his neck and that deserves a sighting??? Yet we can offer all the excuses under the sun as to why the tackle on Warea Hargreaves was an accident and had so many contributing factors to warrant no action.
.
What a load of crock, how was Carney's incident any better of worse than the hit on him by ELLIS a few weeks ago???

The NRL gets a stiffy when Gaznier is mentioned
Carney was never going to be suspended for the "high shot", contact went from Princess' shoulder across to his armpit. What, the Princess got tickled and blacked out. Gimme a break.

Carney should not have even been cited for that and should have ZERO points against his name. That is a BS decision by the NewsRL."The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."
