Pleasing. Noting more. Just pleasing. The best thing is though, our best is still in front of us. Even if we dont come out trumps on Sunday, I firmly believe this is the start of yet another dynasty.....The perfect mix of youth and experience is mouthwatering. Anyway onto the player ratings for last nights game;
1. Minichello - How good was it to see him running the ball like one K.Hunt! He is really starting to develop the neccesary attributes of a modern day fullback ie; passing, support play. Always safe under the high ball. 7.5/10
2. Leilua - I had massive hopes for him coming into this game. A good halfback in Prince was able to expolit his inexperience though. Maintain the faith Smithy....This kid is a superstar. 5.5/10
3. Linnett - One again absolutely superb in defence - apart from the miss tackle on Prince that almost lead to a try. Such a good footy brain for such a young kid. 7/10
4. SKD - Like last week he was well contained. Produced a brain explosion when he decided to carry the ball in his fingertips before it was promptly slapped out by Meyers. We all know what he can do when he has space. Beware opponents next week. 6.5/10
5. Perrett - Heart and soul of the club. Always puts in. Supremely strong runner of the footy, great finisher. 8.5/10
6. Carney - Like SKD was very well contained. It sincerely gave me the shits that every time he had the ball there was NOBODY running off him. This must be addressed during the week as seen last night, on a damp surface, Todd isnt able to change direction quick enough. Dont feel I even need to address that supposed high tackle...What a farce - just wait for the Telecrap to jump all over it, hype it up and try their best to see Carney suspended. Absolutely superb goal kicking. 6.5/10
7. Pearce - Surely this bloke is not a halfback. He defends with no fear and hits very very hard for a relatively small man. Like Todd, he wasnt given much space and didnt have runners coming off him, but still lead the side around the park competently. Ill say it again, amazing defence. 7/10
8. Ryles - Plays his part week in week out in the BEST front row rotation in the comp. The best thing about the rotation is everyone offers something different. In Rylesys case, he is a good passer of the footy before the line to go along with his great offload. Solid as ever. 7/10
18. J.Aubbson - Dont really know what the **** he was having a cry about after the game. Here's hoping he isnt thinking about leaving the club because he is a very good player. Hits extremely hard in defence which often goes un-noticed. 5/10
10. FPN - HOW GOOD WAS THAT!!! Made 35 metres in the first half - deciding to repeat his last few weeks efforts, but simply EXPLODED in his second stint. I called last week for him to be moved to the Second row where he can run better angles and exploit his offload. Those calls were answered in the 2nd half last night. Made 81 metres in the 2nd half. The wrecking ball is back baby!!! 7.5/10
11. Myles - Never misses a tackle. Played a massive part along with Anasta to contain Bird and Rogers. The glue in the side. 7/10
12. M.Aubboson - Like Myles, Mitch holds the team together with his cool head under pressure and precise decision making in defence. Would love to see him start running off Todd and Pearce though. My pick for Clive Churchill Medalist...... 7/10
13. Anasta - I was wrong about him. Not only is he a brilliant captain - in that he is always keeping the boys on their toes - but he sets a terrific example himself. The way he contained a machine in Bird last night was truly a credit to watch. Such a strong runner of the footy aswell. Fully deserving of having Jodi Gordon. 9/10
9. Friend - Love this bloke. Kicking and running game are starting to develop. Defence is sublime. As ive said before, a superstar in the making. Has a shocking tatoo though. 7.5/10
14. Kennedy - Sign him for life immediatley!!!! Marty plays the traditional go forward no nonsense role in the front row rotation. Reminds me so much of one B.Hannant when he was starting off at the Roosters. Made 112 metres last night - amazing stuff for a man off the bench. 8/10
15. JWH - Plays the enforcing role in the rotation. Was presented with little space last night but like SKD, we all know what he can do. 6/10
16. Conn - Stuff Carney. Stuff Linnett. This bloke is the buy of the season. Turns up each and every week. Hits so hard in defence, carries defenders on his back. In my eyes, scored the match winner last night. What a player. 9/10
All in all, a pleasing performance. We must go unchanged into the G.F. Eventhough Jaubs has proven to be a bit of a sook, he takes the sting out of the oppositions forwards in the first 15-20 before allowing Friend to come on and control the pace of the game. Great win, but the best is definitely still in front of us.
