  • lucky win again

Based on the two previous finals games, I wonder what crap the newspapers will come up with this week with regards to us being 'lucky' last night. It may go something like this:

The Sydney Roosters are through to the 2010 Grand Final but only because of some very questionable refereeing decisions, a penalty count that should have been 10-0 to the Titans, Todd Carney not being sent off for that punch that would have knocked Mike Tyson out, scrum wins against the feed, a massive injury toll to the Titans and a clear forward pass that resulted in a runaway try to FPN while the game was on a knifes edge at 26-6 in the 80th minute.

Bristling with experience, it was supposed to be the Titans who coolly and clinically despatched of their foes, especially with 45,000 cheering fans shaking the foundations of Suncorp Stadium.

Instead, expertly guided by the guile of lock Braith Anasta and swift feet of Todd Carney and Mitchell Pearce, the Roosters grabbed them by the throat like a pitbull and never once looked like relaxing their deathly grasp.

    and this

It’s kaput for the Gold Coast Titans. Outplayed and just plain ousted by the Sydney Roosters, their dreams of a premiership lie shattered at a Suncorp Stadium that should have been their playground.

Despite a massive crowd of 44,783 firmly in the Titans corner, it was the Roosters who last night defied the fans and rose to the occasion with the most convincing of 32-6 victories.

I saw the title of this thread and nearly went ape-shit.

We may have had some luck but we've fought our way to the top. We deserve this.

The problem is that one's sarcasm always has to be provisional in regards to the Limited News. They will always find someway to push their disconnected-from-reality line over *anything* (tho' of course, politics, is what they really love to have a line on, sport is a close second, and rooster-hate is their favorite sport):

Gold Coast cast-off Daniel Conn, released by the Titans last season, turned on his former club with a crucial try in the 49th minute which had more than an element of luck to give the visitors an 18-6 break.

Its not the fact that you know, he ran around or over three players on the way to the line or anything, it's just luck.

Lol all my Dragons 'mates' have labelled any Roosters win this year as a fluke, especially during the finals.. would be the best win ever if we play and beat them next week

LOL, love your work 007, that's some brilliant prose and it won't surprise me to see elements of it in beetroot head's summation without due credit to your good self.
