It's almost certainly not his idea of journalism. This website is a fledgling site trying to make a dent in a well-established market; getting someone like Carney to lend his name to an article is good business. This commercial imperative is more typical of modern media. Nothing is done "just for the sake of it", rather, it's done to make money.

And since when were reporters charged with the task of providing opinion? Journalists ought to provide balanced, accurate coverage and leave commentators/experts to "speak their *expletive* mind".
