  • Going back a bit, how did we...

Sorry I know I'm going back a bit now, but I'm puzzled... how did we win the scrum against the feed right at the end of the Tigers game? I thought the rules basically state that you're not allowed to win against the feed, so I'm sorta confused because its the first time I've seen a league scrum won against the feed.

So what exactly happened? I was busy crying because I thought we'd lost as soon as the scrum was called, and was expecting to see a lot of replays/breakdowns of how we did this one, but haven't found any. Any links?

Sorry I'm just really interested in this one...

Honestly, the Ref knew he'd screwed up by not penalizing Dwyer for the high shot and let it go.

Fact is I think it was a penalty to the tigers but who cares.

also if that ever happens and it went against us I would be pissed if one of our players just watched the opposition pounce on the ball. We should of never have got away with that scrum but they were fixing a earlier mistake

The scrum wheeled aroundanti clockwise, the ball game out, the scrum wheeled around a bit more.
The the prop on the right side was next to the ball on the ground and dived on it.

It helped that the front rower was pushing so hard to the right that the hooker could not even get his arm around him. That should have been the penalty right there as it was not packed properly. The tigers player though should have pounced on the ball. He stood there looking at it to long.

It wasn't, strictly speaking, a win against the feed. The Tigers won the scrum, but just didn't pick up the ball.

I don't have a problem with the outcome of the scrum. The ball clears the feet of the 2nd row and the lock breaks and hesitates diving on the ball. Once the ball clears the feet of the 2nd row, it's game on. Maybe some should read the rule book a little closer.

As thirty-eight-nil said, Ball comes out, so game on.

All credit goes to Kennedy, his strength allowed the world's biggest hooker FPN to beat Heinington to the ball.

                    And we won

                    End of story

Most people don't notice but the NRL averages about 1 or 2 scrum wins against the feed each year. It used to be a lot higher when the half back had to feed the ball into the tunnel unlike this feed it into the second row crap they do now. It means that unless the halfback ****s up the feed the hookers never actually hook for the ball. I think the only reason they still have scrums is for the set play aspect.

And to all the Tigers fans out there, if you played the whistle and picked up the ball you might have won... but you didn't so stop whinging.

Who gives a flying fark, we won, they lost, we are 2 games away from a premiership.

Heighnington is the goose who didnt pick the ball up, he is also the goose that blinsided Pearce in the benji fight.

Agree 100%. He knew we got a rough call because he didn't want to blow a match winning penalty, so he let the dubious scrum go.

Technically a penalty for not binding in the scrum. But There's no way the ref would penalise for the breach. Every scrum in every game there are infringements ....... loose arms, second row feed etc. So would be a huge call to have penalised us.

The only thing they penalise for these days is breaking early from the scrum, but in this instance the ball was out, and so fair game to dive on ...even though our right side of the scrum was not properly bound.

....anyway we won, who cares !

It's history as they say, & I for 1 am certainly not going to question
the ref, though I would have much preferred he penalized the Tigs
& gave us the penalty in front, as he should have done, so I'm not
going to tell him he made a booboo again.
