  • Stats Roosters v Titans.

    Some interesting and positive stats

    So far this season

    Tries Roosters 107 Titans 93
Line breaks Roosters 141 Titans 111
Off loads Roosters 336 Titans 277
Dummy half runs Roosters 698 Titans 368
Tackle breaks Roosters 1010 Titans 852

Most of the other stats we are very close, but i thought these were interesting.

No reason we cant win this....GO THE MIGHTY CHOOKS !!!

Looks promising. The Roosters will need to contain their pack, though. Absorb some pressure in the opening and then run around them at the edges as they tire.

Can we justify why these stats are important?

        Gee, let me think.

        Offloads create second phase play.

Dummy Half runs cut up defensive patterns, making teams have to rethink their alignment.

We just need to win one stat on Friday. The scoreboard stat. they are interesting, but mean absolutely nothing at this stage.

You couldnt be more wrong champ.

Offloads do create second phase play BUT that doesnt win you games. Look thru all the matches this season and you wont find many (if any) games where the team that won, considerably ' the loosing teams in the offload department'.

Your dummy half comment is an interesting one - but absolutely rubbish. First of all, you'd be stupid to suggest that any team would come anywhere near us in the dummy half runs department - as it is a tactic we often exploit thru the likes of Sammy P and SKD. Secondly, dummy half runs dont disrupt defensive patterns at all - 9 times out of 10 the dummy half runner is gobbled up by the second marker, making 1 or 2 metres (eg; Phil Graham). Thirdly, its is immensely ignorant to say we use the tactic effectively - given our poor go foward coming out of our own area. Finally, increased amounts of dummy half running is an indication of either unfit fowards or unimaginative ballplayers, neither willing to be responsible in ensuring the team gets out of its own end.

Saying all that, we are extremely fortunate to have the likes of Perrett and SKD in our side as they are both very effective runners of the ball - due to their low centre of gravity. Both always strive for a quick play the ball and often get it.

Ultimately though, it is impossible to say that the amount of dummy half runs a team tabulates is an indication of their effectiveness in winning games.

I guess we will see on Friday, but I think the stats I outlined show that we are well in this. I put the dummy half runs in because it was the most obvious difference between the two sides style of play.

In saying that I fail to understand why some loudmouth , a supposed supporter of our team , feels he has to try to make himself the centre of attention by sticking his snotty nose in.

Obviously good dummy half running disorganises defences, and gives the opportunity for broken field running, and if you have a look at some of the tries we have scored this year you will see some coming directly from great offloads.

The Titans play a grinding style of football, based on field position and low error rate, whereas our boys play a much more expansive game.

As i said, we will see on friday.

First I've heard of SKD having a low centre of gravity.

He's being contrary for the sake of it.

To argue offloads doesn't help win games is an extremely long bow to draw.

It's all about possession..... Don't give away silly penalties, don't throw loose passes... Hold the ball, keep going forward and eventually you will score points.....
