But, to reiterate, I can't recall any 'how do I get a membership so I can buy GF tickets' threads in March when this club was wooden spooners.
DR if "price is not a problem" you will have no trouble finding a ticket for the GF.
Adzta I'm guessing you're from Brisbane. Stones and glass houses come to mind when you call Sydney a hell hole
My point was just that the people who spent money on ticketed memberships at the start of the year obviously deserve preferential treatment for GF tickets. And it's my opinion that it is a shame that this semi-final is being played away from Sydney because many of the poor sods who trekked it out to Campbelltown and Penrith and Canberra when things weren't so rosy earlier in the season will miss out.
Dubai Rooster I think you moreso hit a nerve on the "price is not a problem" point, as Bluester has quoted you 3 or 4 times on that point alone.
I hate the I'm a better supporter than you crap. I do agree though, members should have preference however more needs to be done by the club to ensure all parties get benefits from their memberships... and not just the people who drive to Penrith and Canberra but the ones willing to fly 15 hours!
Although Dubai Rooster that will probably be one of your free flights home! Oh the good times.

Okay I think everyone is getting a bit hot under the collar.
My point was only that supporters with ticketed memberships should obviously get first dibs on finals and grand final tickets. It's common sense, I don't think anyone is disputing/could possibly dispute that.
I wasn't trying to turn it into the inevitable 'I'm a better supporter than you' threads that arise every September, but adzta, if you want some commendation for your support, then well done mate. It is a schoolyard argument no one is participating in.
My point re. DR buying a membership stands. I'm sure he's a big Roosters fan but I have a question mark over why he is so keen to buy a ticketed membership in September, one game away from the grand final, as opposed to March. The couple of thousand who committed to the reigning wooden spooners during the season should obviously have a big ticket-buying advantage. My initial reply to DR was quite sincere - the solution was to show the same enthusiasm for obtaining a membership when the chips are down as when the team is flying.FONK

Not once did I ask for preferrential treatment. I was merely asking a question.... you made it into something different.... I understand what you are saying but I don't understand how it relates to my original question....
In March I was 3 months into a new job in a foreign country with no family & no friends, the last thing on my mind was worrying about membership, I think my plate was full at that particular moment... most people would agree.... Now, I am settled and I am excited by what I am witnessing...... one thing is for sure, I won't let a wet whistle like you dampen my enthusiam!
So, please stop making this out to be more than the orginal question intended, which I might add, was perfectly answered by a lot of other good members of this forum....

But if you think being a member represents any value to those who are outside of Sydney then I would have to disagree. Unless you can use it a membership is a waste of time and money. As Dubai pointed out he even asked the club to do something but it did not happen. I have supported this club for 30 something years but I am not willing to just waste cash on something that offers no return.
My point wasn't that non-Sydney people should buy ticketed memberships, rather, DR said he was willing to pay for a ticketed membership in order to access the priority booking window and I questioned the timing of this. The "price is no problem" comment put me off because there are people who paid hard earned money to get a ticketed membership in March and I believe they are entitled to a priority booking window. I'm sure there are lots of great Roosters fans out there without ticketed memberships (and to reiterate, this was never a 'who is a better fan' discussion rather a 'who is entitled to priority tickets' discussion).
So again, I didn't mean any personal offence and I commend people who follow the Chooks abroad and interstate (many of whom get a nice reward this Friday). But I think the priority booking period works well as a strong incentive for people to sign up as members at the start of the year.
I hope DR gets tickets if the Roosters make the GF and there are plenty of good people on this site who have been sharing their membership codes to allow non-members to buy tickets which is great.
Discussing the distribution of finals tickets is a bloody nice problem to have
