I'M with Brian Smith in saying his young side are not used to the toughness of big match games but have been learning some lessons and just may have come of age a bit yesterday.
Things did not look good In the first half but for my money one of the turning points was when Daniel Conn smashed Kite .Conn ran back to his team mates didnt sook about it but revved his team mates up for more action and to rip into Manly - from there I told young Junior it will be the turning point and we will come back and win.
JWH was awsome In the second half as was Friend.Carney sparked us and SKD was phenomenal.
Man of the match would have to be SKD followed by JWH and Carney.
Good to see a predominant Roosters fan crowd out there.
Supermuz and his merry men did well.
John XY -5- just short of been a GT .He did alright considering he is filling in late in the season.
Slammin Sam Perret-7- You know when Perret hasnt stuffed up the old Brain has the handkerchief out.Finished a good try and hogged the dummy half as usual knowing Kouprickses is useless.
Superman -9- Trwehella has put his poster up next to his old Brett Finch one in the office.He was superb and as Smithy said on the ABC .He wins us a lot of games but also loses some only because he is on the spot trying his heart out .I can live with that.SKD is shit hot at the moment.
The man - 6- Im a big BJ fan (both ways). Still very young but very tough kid not many his age can handle first grade week in week out .will be our MVP one day.
No More Gaps -5- made a run and a half -you have to make gaps for him other wise he hits a brick wall.Phil the Dill ?
Ole Carney -8- a freak and one very motivated tough player we havnt got better than him.
Pearce off Manly-6- dedicated to Laurens sign at the ground. Our forwards went forward in the second half and so did he .His type of play at the moment suits that situation.He has to grow out of that a bit more.
Buzz Lightyear- 7- played his usual consistant game .and motored in the second half .Myles is a goer ,wont let his team mates down .
The Sex Machine-7-when the ref was giving it to Daniel Conn over his high shot half a dozen birds ran to the sidleine screaming and trying to run on to the field to help him out one resembled Berta (from 2.5 Men)the other like Mamma Cass.He did a Morrreeelly and we have been needing that all year - good game.
The Moose -5- didnt do a lot of work but every thing he did with quality and venom and I love the way Mose shrugs off blocks and smiles as they land on their asses.Needs to lift his work rate -the effor is definately there.
Mean Machine -8- came to life finally and played with purpose .Thats the attitude we shall need in the semis.JWH was good and I hope it wasnt a one off.
Solid Nut-6- Maubs did good with some great defence in the second .Obviously prefers his back rowers possie where he can roam around the field.
Smashed Alice -6- have you ever seen a player get checked so much in life ? Poor Anasta gets hammerd all the time ..does that make him a liability in the side or does he inspire the team by kicking on?
Sandwich Hand- 8-Jakey did good another and fired when the chips were down.
Pyles -6- just plodded along as usual but always looked stressed I reckon he had dioareah
The Pope -4- no metres minimal input must be playing injured or some thing .Fank baby pick it up.
Kouprickses -1-for tackling.Any one know if there is any serial killers available -the pay is good
I would like to see our forwards first half stats compared to the second half in metres gained cause overall theres not much gain in any of them and that bothers me .Seems the forwards just have to hold tight and get the ball out to Carney ,Perret and SKD to gain ground all the time.Obviuosly Smith knows their limitations and strengths and plays with it .
It would be nice to beat a below top eight team next week that could be a first.
