  • Can you be unbiased?

Being on this forum and being an active member I would just like to ask you all if you can watch the Roosters play and be truelly accurate in the assement of the game and the performane especially when we lose?

It seems that when we do lose the knives come out and it is open season on bagging of the players. All fine and well and often justified BUT...

When you watch a game of two teams where one is NOT the Roosters, how accurate are you of the game then? Do you use the same criteria that you apply to the team that you support or is your support clouding your assesment of the game?

Me personally I think that you can lose a game because the other team was much better on the day. A team will never play a perfect game but that is often expected and hoped for. You see time and again a team win very nicley but they always say "we still have some things to work on".

So when you watch the Roosters play, is your judgement harsher than when you watch another team play?

Ofcourse, I couldn't care less if the Saints or Sharks or whoever drop the ball......if Easts do however I will chuck a fit and try and blame Koupa****wit or Graham for it even if they didn't directly cause it

You cannot be a fan and unbiased. Being biased is why we are fans.

          Chook.

When they play shit, I say the Roosters play shit.

When they play like champions, I say keep it up.

I am unbiased to the point of being Jesus.

Of course I'm harsher on the Roosters than other teams - I don't give a toss about other teams' problems, but I care a lot about the Roosters problems.

The way i see it is like this.......

Anyone can win on their day. The bounce of a ball, a call by a ref, a knock on, a forward pass....they can all turn a game for or against you regardless of the talent a team possesses. When a ref blows their whistle, it is nil all and anything can happen.

I have been at rooster games where i have agreed with calls the refs had made for us and i have also disagreed with calls that the refs have been in our favour (not that i am complaining when that happens, i am preparing for the karmic kick in the pants). You can only play the hand you are delt, if you play it well, chances are you will win, but nothing is certain.

As to other teams, when i have watched 2 non rooster teams play i keep the same philosiphy, i do pick a prefered winner. Except when it comes to souffs....i just want them out!

To love Easts is to hate Souffs

Maybe Im kidding myself, but I think I am unbiased. If we play poorly then I expect to lose, if we play poorly and get a lucky win Im not overexcited about it, but Im happy. That doesnt happen often, we get shafted on a regular basis.

I see other teams get horrible calls and feel sorry for them, it happens every week, its supposed to even out, but in our case it doesnt seem to.

Call me baised if you like, I dont give a shit, we were shafted against the Sharks, and against Canterbury, and against Brisbane, and against the Warriors, in two cases we were still good enough to win, but we were still shafted.

I think I am unbiased. I try to call it as I see it. Having said that it is hard to say that we have not been getting shafted by the ****ing referees on a regular basis. Our guys seem to have to lift an extra 20% to win because of some of the dreadful decisions. We are consistently heavily penalized for no good reason.

I'd say we are all, at the very least, a little biased one way or another esp during the game is being played. After that, when comparing our performance/players against others.. id say im pretty objective

I don't care about other teams.

But usually when we lose, I get massively angry and then I can calm down and see things more clearly. But yes, there will always be bias.
