You guys do realise that it's less to do with forwards not wanting to get involved and more to do with the gameplan?

All year that has been the way we play football, even if a forward is there to take a hit up, our backs get in position to run.

I don't buy into the rubbish that it was the forwards who affected Carney's play. He had plenty of opportunities and half breaks but blew most of them with poor options or handling errors.

The forwards don't get involved but its clearly a gameplan thing and I dont think it affected us last night - we made decent metres and our halves had ample chances.

Carney was a bit off, and Perrett cost us 12 points. That's where the game was lost.

I agree to an extent. We haven't and won't win the middle against teams that grind with St Merge, Gummies and Titans being the most recent examples.

If Smith has something up his sleeve in regards to changing our game plan he'd better do it soon else he'll have plenty of time in the off season to refine it.

        Chook.

It was easy to blame Perret and Carney last night for their errors. But that's the result of a backline trying to work off no forward momentum and poor field position
So lack of go-forward made Perrett throw the ball to Toopi after he took that intercept. Interesting thought that one.

Yes I agree our forwards need to step up, but to blame them for the schooboy errors of Perrett and Carney is a stretch.

Not directly. Errors come from pressure or frustration. Our backline was under pressure the whole night, and were clearly getting frustrated. Titans were up in our face the whole night due to our lack of go forward and momentum. There were some basic errors, but many of those were forced by a fast moving Titans defensive line. They can't pressure us if they are on the back foot, the only way to get them running backwards is if the forwards make the yards and dominate the ruck

Perretts three howlers were unforced errors in my opinion. He didn't have to throw that stupid pass, it was lack of concentration that saw him stuff up the play the ball and the same reason why he dropped Graham's pass cold. Some of Carney's errors you could blame on lack of go forward but Perrett's mistakes were inexcusable.

I agree. The pass he dropped off Graham was down to our lack of go forward (we were going sideways all night - why Graham would throw a long ball 5 metres out from our own line against a fast moving defense is beyond me)

Some of the errors were inexcusable. But a lot of our problems came down to trying to play a lateral game, without any forward momentum
