  • Dragons chasing Jaubs

OFF-contract injured Roosters hooker James Aubusson could be on the move to St George Illawarra next year.

Aubusson, 23, is viewed as a replacement for the impending retirement of Luke Priddis at the end of this season.

Returning hooker Nathan Fien is expected to be the Dragons' No.1 rake next year, while boom under-20s youngster Cameron King has made his return to the field in recent weeks from a serious shoulder injury.

Aubusson - who has played 55 NRL games since his debut at Melbourne in 2007 - has been leapfrogged at the Roosters by comeback kid Jake Friend while out with an ankle injury.

Anthony Watts coming next year.. we already have Friend.. I don't really see him staying, as long as we keep Mitch

I don't mind so much. Watts will be our bench player and Jaubs will again have a lack of opportunities. We also need some cap space so good luck to him if he goes. Maybe we can do a package deal and throw in Koups. Sort of a buy one get one free (of lesser or equal value).

Massive shame if he goes. I just don't get signing Watts when JAubs is a better player in my opinion. And if he goes to the merge scum, well, that's good for him ...

Watts is a good impact utility. I think he offers more on the bench position than Jaubs would tbh. He's also been one of the Cowgirls best this year and has stood up quite well in a hopeless team.

As another poster mentioned, Jaubs might be in line for the halfback spot once Hornby moves on and that's a really good opportunity. It does seem to be his better position - it's where he has played his best games.

I can't see that happening, I read they were keeping Hornby for a couple more years. They will be losing Priddis though so Jaubs could be a replacement for him.

Anyway Jaubs is no loss for us.

Bennett is probably only signing Jaubs so he can have a crack at Maubs for the 2012 season.

I like how you're immediately suspicious. I mean really, who's going to sign Jaubs on his own merit I got a nice little laugh out of that.

if the team continues to develop at the rate it has this year we are going to have some tough decisions to make at the end of 2011, guys like Linnett,Leilua,Maubs,SKD,FPN,Masoe,Anasta are either off contract or going to need upgrades to keep them happy.

You're quite right, but I think Maubs is a core part of our future and that will be recognised. I'm trying not to think about who we're are eventually going to have to let go and enjoy the team we have while we can.

Well i reckon Anasta wont be there, there is no way he would be offered the same money he is on now let alone a contract upgrade.
