    I took a 2nd look and im proud of them

    Mates !!!

    The seat in the car stank coz I had the shits all the way home ( 4 hour drive ) after that game at the SGC, but since I have had another look last night after actually being able to see the game prpoperly, I am proud of those kids

    The defence was AWESOME !!!!! to go down by 7 points with **** all ball and having to defend for 60 minutes, yep there was 4 or 5 bad mistakes that cost us the game but as far as im concerned , WE ARE BACK ! someone had to lose that game , yep we did , but did we ? dont worry Smithy will take note and when you look at it, we were still in it after 70 mins with no ball ,

    Pretty good for a wooden spoon team last year

    I watched the tv coverage for the first time last night. I am very proud of them. To think we went so close to winning is astounding. I would rather be us than them heading into the finals.

      Yep this was one time that being at the game did not give a true indication of just how close it was

        It's not the game we had to lose but at least if you keep winning all the time, then the nearer you are to a loss. Now it's time to regroup and hopefully next loss will be well into next season however I think we can afford to lose one more to keep the boys real. If we lose to Manly and only them, we'll be fine. That will remind them that wins don't just happen.

          I did the same. I thought the game was pretty average at the game, but watched it again and I was more than impressed.

            It was a game you had to watch again. Due to the SCG I didn't have an appreciation of how good our defence was, we were very gutsy. It's one of the rare times I'm quite happy with a loss.

            Saying that we have to improve to beat them next time. They killed us at the ruck, our markers were very lazy and they opened us up down the middle. Mose pulled off some great hits but he didn't hold them down long enough. It's an area we have to work on. Also their line speed was much better.

            If we improve our work at the ruck and get an even share of the ball I'm more confident than ever that we can win this thing.

              im still shattered over this loss. It was the game we had to win, to prove we can not only match it for 70 mins with the big boys, but to beat them. The dragons and manly have the edge over us physicaly and mentally, and the only way we can go on and win this comp is if we dont play these teams in the finals.

                Look at it this way, the Dragons will now be very confident they can beat us if they meet us in the finals. Hopefully a little too confident. Our boys know they have to avoid throwing the game away and they could come out on top. On the back of the Dragons mind, is the never ending 'Choke' call. I have every bit of confidence that we have a team to beat those guys. It's just a matter of doing it right on the day. How often does a team beat another leading into the finals, only for the loser to reverse the score when it really matters. We can do it.

                    just watched the replay, 4 things i noticed. Our line speed in defence is non existant. Its like were waiting for them to come to us. Our ruck speed is non existant. Incredibly slow play the balls, Myles being the slowest i have ever seen. Too much side to side stuff from our backs. Finally Gus Gould, whats with this prick....not 1 positive comment about the roosters all game. Continuously praising the dragons, and when they err he goes silent. Prick!

                        That's the difference. Their line speed and what they do at the ruck, that is their strength. The slowed us down and smothered us all day, we probably can't dominate them up front. But if we just get a decent share of the ball we can beat anyone. If Illawarra and Brisbane are the benchmark we have more than enough good footy in us to beat them.

                          Gus has a habit of doing that in our games. I think he knows that the guys will watch it back and possibly hear his comments.

                          We didn't bring our A-game this time. We didn't do a lot of things we had done in the last 5 games. Remember if that last pass goes to hand and we pull it off with our B or C game even. If we had won the guys would believe what they read in the papers then we would be in trouble. Trust in Smithy.

                            The boys were really tough and a lesser side would have got spanked. Our line speed/ruck control/go forward were poor and we lacked patience, but geez their defensive effort was huge and they were very resilient.

                            Very proud indeed and I hope they can see all the positives.
