The SCG is awful. It is a tradition that should have stayed in the 70s. The SFS would have drawn the same crowd and had a better atmosphere and better view.

There's a good reason why they started building rectangular stadiums...

The chookpen was not a good vantage point, the angle was extreme and I'm too used to the halfway line view. I had to laugh at some pen supporters who were yelling "forward pass!" at play 100m away at the far corner...I joked to my old dad that they must have a set square and a theodolite to call that

On the plus side, imagine what it would've been like before they re-dressed the ground and removed the massive "hump" at the wicket square. At least we could see the far corner post.
It's scientifically impossible for Easts to be in Souths' shadow when there's daylight between them and us.
      Easts to win

It was a good idea if you still live in the 70's ****ing ANZ/Telstra is better than the SGC , some things are better left in the 70s, footy at the SCG is one of them......
        The REAL! Spanner, never forgotten.

I'm a Swans supporter so I've been to the SCG for AFL games and it's wonderful; very intimate and a good view from all around the ground. I suppose that's why it was somewhat surprising that the ground was horrible for league. It wasn't just becasue of the distance from the action, but the fact that a good view was so hard to come by. I'm glad I got there nice and early so I could find a good place to sit.

Still enjoyed the day though. Bumper ground, enjoyed the presentation of the 75 premiership team and despite the loss, it was an absorbing and at times exciting game.
Yes it is a great ground to watch the AFL at,i go to most of the Swans games and love the view from the Ladies Stand, however i know from sitting there it would be hopeless for league so i sat in the Noble stand for the Saints game, even though you are behind the in goal you are high up and able to see the whole field.

I don't like the Swans and I don't cricket (and I don't love it either) so I think that's the last time I'll ever be in the SCG.
Hey Madduke if you were looking around a pole in the Noble why didn't you go to the Bradman stand when they opened it to the members,a lot of people spilled across into there from the Noble when they opened the gate. You would have got virtually the same view without a post in front of you.

I was in the Noble, right behind that kick and my mate called it.Said "This will hit the upright"

                  Haha evidently not.

But personally I did think it was great to be back at the traditional home of rugby league.

Sure, bad view for one game but the occasion was added to by the venue.

Sitting at the SCG before the game started was fantastic...

When the whistle went for kick-off I wished I was at home watching my TV set, so that I could actually see what was happening..

If we take a semi-final to the SCG we are idiots..

Why would you want to be home watching it on TV? It was delayed. A disgrace with Channel 9. Why they want to cover their most important sporting program delayed is beyond me. The NRL should insist they broadcast it live or it goes to Fox. I for one, had to be at work looking at that NRL live score joke. It refreshes far too slowly and the info just takes ages. I thought the game ended at 13-12 cause the last I saw the time clicking was 76:46 and it stayed there for a good 15 mins so I turned off after that believing that was the score which it was not.

I was with about five other people. Trying to get that moveable feast to actually move would be impossible.
