in short....I have watched close to every 1st grade league game for the past several seasons to say the least and can honestly say that i have never seen a game where the video ref has made a decision without watching the replay from every angle..... considering the fact that indirectly channel nine own the broncos....it being a broncos home game and the ref apparently not having the angle that shows falou losing the ball... one can only start to wonder... also what the **** is going on with the ridiculous calls that have gone against since the warriors game???????

while i have your attention.... how good is the the never give up attitude of the boys... makes for football of the highest quality...unbelievable to watch...

I also think that last penalty given against Ryles for hand on the ball at the tackle was so wrong considering I saw Wallace doint it a few times and yes, no penalty against them.

Yeah it wasn't a try... "benefit of the doubt"... what does that mean anyway? Often I think they just tag it on the bottom without even thinking about its meaning.

They were asking the question "did Minichiello strip the ball?"
My answer would be "you couldn't see because the posts were in the way, so we have no evidence to prove that he stripped the ball... I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and say he didn't because we have nothing that proves otherwise. Since the ball wasn't grounded there's no chance it's a try either way..."

That said, we held on to win anyway. There were some dubious calls that went in our favour. The most positive thing I've been seeing lately is we're able to rebound when the going gets tough... no better examples than our last 3 games. Lets hope it continues!! A few blokes on this forum have said "it doesn't matter to the top 4 teams if calls go against them because they'll win anyway"... I think this kind of form is cementing our place in the top 4!

Trust TOK to be right on top of what his employers are up to...

Own the Broncos, own Fox, own the League, own the basket case from Melbourne - if ever there was a case for the Independent Commission...

I'd like to know what sort of hook up the video ref has with the broadcaster. Do they have a direct line to them to ask what angles are available? If they do then Mander's cock-up is more than embarrassing. If they don't then they should.

I think the video ref asks the producer in the truck for whichever angle he has at his disposal. Last night there must have been a communication breakdown, hence why not all angles were considered.

It's disturbing that the refereeing of matches is affected by the broadcaster, especially when that broadcaster has a foot in the camp of one of the competing sides.

Once the video ref had answered that question, the next question should have been, who touched the ball last? Of course we couldn't see that either. I like Gus' line of thinking.....'if it looks like a try and smells like a try than its probably a try'. I looked at that last night and looked at Folau's reaction and could tell that there was some serious doubts. If Mini had stripped it and it had played out like the video ref thought it did, Folau would have been high fiving Kenny and jumping around instead of chasing after the ref and gesturing with his hands. It smelled fishy and the final angle showed that it was more than that!

In the end, that try actually halted Brisbanes momentum. I might sound stupid saying this, but if that try hadn't been awarded, I don't think we would have won the match!

Yeah funny how 30 seconds after the try was awarded they happened to find THAT angle. Rort of the biggest order. After they finish investigating the Danny Green punch they should focus on some of the dud video ref calls we have copped this year.

Cosmo - they were my thoughts too but it doesn't excuse the dud call.

I don't understand why the "Strip" is even in question here. Minichello in my eyes was trying to lock up the ball. There is no stripping action. HE was trying to tackle around the ball. In the process of trying to score the try, Falou has extended his arm and lost the ball. It is the same in general play and Brandy on Fox last night was trying to get this point out. It is a loose carry. What else was Mini supposed to do?

The Video ref "Assumed" that minichello was stripping the ball. The last angle proved that he lost the ball, but on the first 2 angles, there is no way that anyone can comfortably say that Minichello "Stripped" the ball. There is no evidence.

He made a tackle and he tackled the player high around the ball. Falou lost the ball with a lose carry. Gee I hate the stripping rule, it is purely in place for players who can not hold onto the ball.

Us regaining the kick off halted their momentum.

Can somebody tell me why we kept kicking off to Thaiday? I would have thought kicking to Tronc's side of the field would have been a better option.

If the refs are going to assume that every ball and all tackle is an attempted strip then we are going to see a lot of penalties.
