every game he plays he is getting more and more of his old self back. i can feel a mini explosion and if so, im happy to wait till 2012 for dugan and send mini out on a high note. on a side note, smith has worked absolute wonders with our right edge. SKD and pez are absolutely brilliant as is maubs hitting holes running wide. everytime they get the ball something happens. If we can now just settle the left edge we are as good as gold. on another note, anasta also played his best game in a while - injected himself when he needed to, some inspired runs and good work down the left all night. top stuff

If Mini can start playing the way he did tonight consistantly i would love him to be resigned next year he really showed a glimpse of his old self, breaking tackles, running the ball back hard. He may end up proving me wrong, i really hope he does.
I think having Mini at the club next year will provide leadership, experience and knowledge to a fairly young squad. On footballing merits alone, Mini has slowly been finding his feet at fullback and while he may be past his best form of the 2003 and 2004, I believe he is more than capable of being a consistent hard running supportive fullback in attack and a tough customer in defense (Similar to a Patten or a Luke Philips). I know the role of a fullback has certainly evolved in recent years but we have enough ball players in key position to compensate for mini's lack of passing skills and should utilise his tenacious elusive running game in attack. I for one definitely support his retention.

fair enough and i tend to agree. look at it this way: Most clubs have either a gun half and 5/8 with decent fullback or a gun half/5/8, a gun fullback and a decent half/5/8. we have a gun half/5/8 and a decent fullback however the fact that we have a 5/8 in anasta in the backrow means that instead of having a running backrower and a playmaking fullback we have a running fullback and playmaking backrower.
Mini has a great game every1 is saying he should stay, if Mini has a shocker next week every1 will say he should move on. pfffft, Mini had a blinder for his standard, For a top fbs standard like Slater, Dugan, Coote, Boyed etc, it was an ok performance. The fact that he didnt make his usual mistakes is getting every1 carried away. He must surely move on....we all love him, but im sure we all love the club more.
