  • Mose Masoe

This kid looks like the real deal. A young Petero Civoniceva clone in the making?

Every run he made was tremendous - he carried plenty of defenders with him, and bent the line with every charge. He doesn't seem to struggle with mobility either, looks pretty light on his feet for a big unit, and is a hard hitter in defense too.

A frighteningly good prospect? Definitely hope so!

On a side note, Kennedy is playing very well too, and Joseph Leilua looks twice as good as Setaimata Sa, at a similar age and level of development when he got introduced to first grade. For all of our inconsistency, we have seen some very good things this year:

    - previously constant underachievers (to varying extents) Aubusson, Myles, Nuuausala and SKD find their feet in different positions and are steadily improving in their new roles

    - the emergence of Hargreaves, Masoe, Kennedy, Leilua and Linnett as seriously talented future prospects

    - Jake Friend and Mitchell Pearce seemingly thriving with increased responsibility and playing the best footy of their blossoming careers

    - Nick Kouparitsas, Daniel Conn and Aiden Guerra as the new versions of Stu Webb, Ned Catic and Chad Robinson, i.e. hard workers who provide stable depth, can fill in when needed and not let the team down

It is really unfortunate that injury has robbed Cherrington and Symonds of the opportunity to really show their potential this year too.

I can see next year being a very good year for us. This year, a lot of the younger players are being introduced to NRL football and are learning the ropes week in, week out. By next year, players such as Mose Masoe, Joseph Leilua, Kane Linnett, Jared Wearea-Hargreaves, Aiden Guerra and Tom Symonds will have more experience and would have developed much more. The side is coming along very well.

        Very promising.
I'd like to see a few more names in the 1 - 5 positions in that list.

Stats for the forwards looked good today. I can't remember the last time Maubs made 40 tackles.

Anyone have the list of minutes played today for the forwards?

I was just so stoked over a pack that includes Mose, Kennedy, JWH, Myles & Ryles...

A monster pack to be feared... It's been a long time coming.. & it's only going to get better..

And the emergence of Boyd Cordner & Ethan Lowe in first grade.
In U20's Jacob Miller & Dan Atkinson.

Next year will be a beauty:

Ryles (110kg at least), Friend, Masoe (115kg at least), Nuuausala (105-110kg), Myles (105-110kg), Aubusson

Jones/Watts, Symonds, Waerea-Hargreaves (110kg at least), Kennedy (110kg at least)

Four giant props, two very large backrowers (Nuuausala is steadily becoming our very own answer to Sam Thaiday). Aubusson, Symonds, Leilua and Guerra are all examples of potential mobile backrowers with linebreaking ability, while Conn is tough and plays well above his weight.

still lack speed in the backline to make a serious run at a premiership, will be very interesting to see what recruitment plans the club has for 2011.

Would dugan and Gordan be enough speed for you?

                    Yes, that is the issue.

Our prop depth is very good at the moment. Our props in NYC (Williamson, Strickland, Maliota and Pelo) are all big, hard-running units too. We have the main first grade group as mentioned before, plus Paea, Conn, Arona and Verlinden at Jets.

Our backline is still the issue, especially with Carney back in the halves. I think the Perrett/SKD combo should be persisted with, but the other side of the field is still the big question.

Dugan would do fine...but we would need one more big, fast winger to round off the backline. Someone like Yow Yeh, Uate, or Matt Duffie...or that Justin O'Neill kid (aside from his blunder on the weekend).

Dugan will be 2012 at the earliest, and in regards Gordon would have thought we would have locked him up by now if he was in our plans, not sure what the contract situation is with Duffy and O'Neil from the Storm but they certainly look to have the goods.

Duffy has a great leap and showed it the other night. also with the athletics background, he has good speed.

                            Dugan
                            Perrett
                            Kenny-Dowall
                            Linnett
                            O'Neill/Duffie
                            Carney
                            Pearce

That would be a very good backline. SKD and Linnett are both rangy customers with deceptive speed, Perrett is a strong finisher, O'Neill and Duffie are both towering, fast athletic wingers who would be great aerial targets, and Dugan is Dugan! They would thrive on the back of that halves combination.
