So far this year, aside from some poor performances, we have seen some great outcomes:

      - the emergence of a real consistent toughness and control in Pearce's game

      - Carney providing attacking flair in the backline

      - Nuuausala and Friend continuing their gradual improvement

      - Myles emerging as a leader

      - talented youngsters in Kennedy, Leilua, Masoe, Brunton

      - SKD and Aubusson reveling in their new positions (I think SKD, regardless of mistakes, is much better at centre)

      - Ryles picking up where O'Meley left off in 2008 as the experienced leader of our pack

      - Conn, Guerra, Kouparitsas as decent depth players

Unfortunately, Perrett, Paea, Anasta, Jorbs have stagnated, and Symonds and Cherrington have been punctuated by injury.

I think Ryles is double the player that Shrek was for us.
He has picked up where he left off in '08

Precisely. O'Meley came for the holiday.

O'Meley came to do a job and was quite prepared to do it, unfortunately he got pissed off at the attitude of some of the younger players and got no support from the club

I think you guys are forgetting how good O'Meley actually was for us in 2008. He was very strong, and Shillington I think blossomed under his leadership.

Shillington wouldn't be representing QLD and Australia today without Ogre's help.

That's a very good point, Mack.

I don't think O'Meley is the kind of bloke whose pride would allow him to sign up for a holiday.

O'Meley was good for us & the young blokes... I reckon that if Shrek was here now we'd be seeing his 2008 form again.. The team was a leaderless joke... Fitzy & a few others tried hard, but they couldn't do much with a useless coach..

Shrek had a good attitude, but unfortunately he just couldn't handle the two ref system. Toward the end of his time with us he was getting killed around the ruck.

Ryles consistantly puts up great numbers, however he is very busy around the ruck as well.

Along with Myles, he has been our best forward this year.

and forced to play with a knee injury.. injuries were always my concern for him as he had a few injury riddled seasons at the Dogs before we signed him up.. Ryles is a better option though than Shrek ever was and at about half the pay packet.

Be it O'Meley or anyone else, that's the risk you take when you pay big money for ageing players

There's a huge chance their best days will be behind them
