  • Soward or Finch?

if you were to have one come back to easts who would it be?

    impossible decision....

none would probably be the most commmon answer here, but i would take soward back in a heartbeat over anasta. i bag him as much as anyone else on here n think he is a cat, but week after week he keeps turning up for st merge and delivering.. he is consistant...

if you had too take one of them back, who would it be??

This year he has done bugger all for St merge, gone missing in several games, and to a an extent not needed.

But he has a huge amount of talent and a coach with honour would cut the crap from his game.

I would take any player, except those at souths before I would take Finch. A menace and a virus on and off the field. The jockey size version of willie mason

      Soward, by a million miles.

The only player I'd take Finch over is Sandow.

Both would fail at the six in our club.

          Finch is Finch

Soward relies heavily on the Bennett system that accommodates him.

Neither would make a meaningful improvement in this team.

Why would eitherof them want to come back except for misguided loyalty

I'm a fan of Soward and his natural ability, I enjoy watching him play attacking football. That being said I rate plenty of halves more than him.

Slightly off topic, has anyone noticed that Soward is developing an arrogant attitude in the last year or two?

Today after the Warriors game, as the players are shaking hands, he was just walking around woo'ing of the top of his voice. Seemed very disrespectful to me.

I have always taken him for a quiet bloke.

yes big time. even the way he goes about interviews - seems like he has either spent too much time around dell or is trying to act like him to make himself feel big. his issue has always been and still is confidence. his size has got nothing to do with being a good defender or not its attitude. there are much smaller blokes going around that hit brilliantly in the nrl than him he is just a cat. he also has this unbearable knack of drifting in and out of games particularly around about the times when you would want your halves to stand up. the only way for him to play some decent footy and unleash his natural ability is for him to have sunshine blown up his rear so that he actually gets a bit of self belief about him. whilst it may be working atm, when the going gets tough, finals footy hits etc, his true colours will shine through. this is why he will never be a rep player or shouldnt be at least until he can turn this around. but tbh it seems to be something ingrained in him so i dont think it will be going anywhere

That seems to be the case, yet it's thes opposite of what I once would have imagined.

I echo that Soward has talent but he's a superstar at St Merge because of Bennett, no doubt about it. I'm not going to pick at him for it because it works and their team is consistently great because of it. If it ain't broke...

Finch on the other hand is a bumbling mess, there is no worse player- you only had to watch the parra and storm game to see that and be graetful he's not one of this club's many problems.

                            that's right

his team are 10-3 and sit 2 points clear at the top of the table

                            he's the 5/8

                            he's done "bugger all"

                            that's for sure
