Ben Jones - Craig Wing. Understand that they have both been picked out of position but its deadset like comparing Arthur Beetson to Lopini Paea.

Jones is not up to first grade. Wing was a champion player.

Neither of those I see as long term options in First Grade.

lol Jake Friend is too slow, now I've heard everything. I guess someone should've told Cam Smith and Mick Ennis a while back that speed was a necessity out of dummy half.

Jake Friend is easily the best dummy half we have at our club, and he should only improve...

This guy is going to be dynamite..

It's great to see BJ Leilua was named in the NYC team after I thought he had picked up a serious injury on Monday night. He will debut very soon, mark my words.
Linnett hasn't played in any grade for 4 weeks now, what is up with him?

Kennedy and Tuatara-Morrison named in the extras for Newtown is interesting, I would have expected both to be in the starting lineup - on call for covering spots in Firsts?

What on earth would you know.. You reckon Tamou went home to NQ lol.. Ennis and Smith at least have football brains.

maybe if he wasn't overweight.. I haven't seen much to think he will ever be First Grade standard.

While I agree that he isn't the leanest bloke around, he isn't the tallest either. His size suits him although he should lean up with a few games under his belt.

Speaking of Ennis' speed - he started out in grade on the wing for Newcastle.

Jake's always been podgy. Even when at his best last year he still had a pot belly. I reckon he always will - it's his natural build. Yes, even at 20 years of age.

But his tenacity and determination make up for the lack of perfect body proportions. And he still manges to play the minutes, which is all that counts.

Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

his podginess limits his effectiveness, his speed and fitness. I noticed last year at the back end of games he would be falling off tackles and throwing horrid passes.. Brunton is fitter than Friend ever was, faster, throws a better pass and tackles as well as Friend does... It baffles me how Friend is rushed into first grade based on really nothing more than average performances last season..

I dont think you guys will have much to worry about this weekend. Stone has farked up the knights line up and moved Gidley to halfback and mcdonnel to fullback.

So said the rumours at the time of his departure, although appears he spent most of his time in Sydney after coming over from NZ. Even played for the great Paddington Tigers...

Nice way to dodge the bullet though.

Bar Luke you'd struggle to find a dummy half in the NRL who relies on their speed or acceleration. Friend for his age is exceptionally good, not sure where all the hate is coming but if Michael Ennis has footy brains then Jake Friend is a surgeon.
