I cant do it. I actually feel sorry for the kid.

This will never work Walshie. Finch was built for a sacking. Like Whitlam.

Skid is a charity case. We need a telethon not a piss off fund.
Alcohol never solved any life problems.....then again neither did milk.

I think we can work with both ideas.

We have a telethon to raise enough money to pay out his contract for the next 18 months so he can piss off now.

Looks like I will be pissing in the wind here, but I think we should stick with SKD (and yes - I did watch the game on Monday night).

The talent is there, the physical attributes (from the neck down), the effort is there and he is only 22.

The kid just needs to learn to think when he is on the Football field.

When Ricky was coach, he used to run behind Wing when Wing was training at half shouting instructions to him. I think SKD needs the same treatment.....

After a year under Smith he will come good. Between now and the end of the year though, I think we are going to have to endure a couple more nights from him like Monday night.

This is at least his 3rd year with us ? isnt that enough of a chance ? Geezuz hes either got it or he hasnt, this bloke hasnt, in the mean time the whole Rugby league world knows how crap his defence is and they will continue to hammer us on the wing or centre and he will continue to arm grab, or cover late or come up early or come across late or not even be anywhere near his position.

If he would just tackle some bastard when he has to defend his line, that would be ok, but he wont ! he hangs his arm out like a 4 year old saying
" Lollies !! Gimmi Gimme" hes got his head back and hes got his arms out trying to make a tackle in 1st Grade of the NRL ?

**** !!! give me a break ! it wouldnt matter if he just hit some bastard but he wont , hes a sook ......

How was the level of coaching he received in the first 2 of those years?

do you really need an NRL coach to coach a player how to catch, draw in a player and pass the ball?

These are basics of the game, taught at an early age, that let SKD down. His father is one of the best coaches in the junior league, yet his son can't comprehend these basics. Sadly for SKD, despite his "potential", he lacks what is needed between the ears to realise his full potential

Great post, I brought up something similar late last year. His errors don't have much to do with the environment around him, rather a lack of basic skills. These are skills brought about when you first step onto the field. His size and pace has gotten him far enough, however in order to be a first grader you need to be more well rounded.

it's a shame because he's a decent bloke but that's the nature of the beast. You can only get so many chances before a youngster replaces you.

Its a concentration thing IMO and it goes thru the whole joint. Basic errors come from between the ears, lack of physical and/or mental fitness.

We dont have the mindset for 80 mins of footy yet, we make our errors due to lack of urgency or panic.

SKiDmark is unfortunately one of the worst offenders but FPN, Perrett, Jaubs, Paea etc all suffer the same problems.

Till they learn to be "on" all game every game we will keep producing the same shit often.

I dont know if everyone will be able to keep up either. Many of them appear to be immune from learning from their many mistakes. Or maybe thats more they havent had these errors coached out of them???

                              The FlogPen .

                              You know it makes sense.

There in lies the greatest truth.

Watching the cowboys game I was not happy, not just because of the stupid errors and piss poor defense (at times) but it looked as though there was no plan, no structure.
Now I would not try to believe that Smith had no game plan or structure, so you must come to the conclusion that it was a bunch of halfwits that could not execute their instructions.
