Interesting if Smithy decides to play Setu and reports that Kennedy and Symonds may also be ready, who they will replace. Once JJ returns our depth suddenly looks so much better.
Setu has been named in the Broncos starting line up.

FPN moving to lock might be 4 nate to move 2 second row and get some game time there. He might be planning on playing anasta there when pearce comes back and leaving carney at 6 where he should be and mini at 1

          Interesting theory, definitely plausible.

fair call but tbh, the difference between lock and second row isnt so great that he would need a great amount of practice at it. Maybe just experiementing with a different balance or considering nate was playing jurt for most of the game, getting him a bit wider and a bit further out of the action might help cut out a bit of his workload for the game if he is carrying that injury into it. The return of jaubs will stiffen up and clean up the middle of the ruck anyway so i wouldnt be too concerned if we take the field as per program. FPN does have the workrate and skills to be a decent option from lock but time will tell.

I would even take that theory one step further, after listening to Anasta talk about his ankle injury today it wouldn't surprise to see once Pearce is back that Anasta gets an extended break to get his ankle right.

one problem Smith has had this season is team balance, which has mainly been caused by injuries, we have been going into games with too many impact/ball playing types and not enough workers, this will be rectified by the return of the likes of Jaubs,Symonds,Friend(if available),Kennedy.

Brian Smith when making the team announcement said that he has a number of guys on standby but he mentioned in particular Linnett. He also said Symonds will be playing for Newtown this week.

Graham went well for a couple of weeks at 3, but no big enough to cut through a defence, so i like him on the wing, esp for his speed.
JWH and Ryles - I was a fan of them off the bench due to injury and age, ie concerned about the speed of the game early, and happy for them to come in when the speed had come off a bit, but if Bwian thinks they are now fit enough to start, I'm happy with that, night game also helps. He's prob also saying to the Cows, we are going to take you on in the middle, early, and hard. Also, JWH plays more like a front rower than a back rower, his brutality has been very impressive.
FPN at lock, could be a smoky, but he can be a dynamic runner with a step and offload, so I hope he does play there, just for a look.
FRN at lock also makes me think that Kennedy may play a bit more f/g this yr.

FPN will still play like a front rower.

correct almost like myles has. smith did this a lot at the knights with the likes of taufua, simpson and houston. will be interesting but i think starting JWH, Ryles, FPN and Myles has left our bench a little thin. Imo, JWH should go back to the bench for impact that ensures more consistent go forward as the game progresses. I am warming to the prospect of:
                      1. Miniciello
                      2. Graham
                      3. Linnett/Williamson/Jones
                      4. SKD
                      5. Pez
                      6. Carney
                      7. Pearce
                      8. FPN
                      9. Jaubs
                      10. Ryles
                      11. Myles
                      12. Maubs
                      13. Anasta

                      14. Paea
                      15. JWH
                      16. Symonds
                      17. Friend

Yeh that is correct. Regardless of the number on his back FPN will still play a role in the middle like he did on Sunday. What was interesting after watching a replay of the Tigers game was that Myles played the majority of the game on our left edge. I initially thought it was JWH but Myles was definitely on that left side.

My mail is he is a 50/50 chance to be cleared for this weekend but if cleared, there is a chance he will turn out for Newtown. But it's more likely he'll turn out for the NRL side because they are playing on Monday and it will give him a couple more days to be cleared.

No bagging jones or graham for their general play, but to me they dont have a danger element that makes the opposition ensure that their defenders get to them in numbers.

With someone such as williamson (as an example) theres plenty of opportunities to be creative, e.g - sweeping high kick like the bulldogs use for Idris, big guys are always useful for a face ball or delayed cut out pass, etc.

So what we have right now is capable of cementing a finals spot, but from there on thats when the game and the defense steps it up, followed by talk of having the need for x-factor players like inglis. And teams lacking the x-factor in playoffs (Dragons in 2009) will know all about it come september.
