  • Injury Update - 3rd May

    Straight off the Easts site;
    The Sydney Roosters side had no major injury concerns out of the Wests Tigers match and are expected to welcome back up to four first graders in the absence of their representative stars.

    Daniel Conn, James Aubusson, Marty Kennedy and Sonny Tuigamala have all recovered from their respective injuries and will offer some welcome relief to a squad low on troops.

    Tom Symonds is rated better than a 50/50 chance of a return but will not be rushed back, the same with Kane Linnett who rolled his ankle in the final session before last Sunday’s game.

    Roosters captain Braith Anasta has been ruled out of the City team with an ankle injury and is in serious doubt for the Tricolours this week.

    Nate Myles has been called into the Australian squad as 18th man to take on New Zealand, which will feature Roosters Sam Perrett, Frank-Paul Nuuausala and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves on Friday night in the ANZAC Test in Melbourne.

    Roosters Todd Carney (Country) and Anthony Minichiello (City) are also in action on the same night in the traditional New South Wales Origin pre-selection match played in Port Macquarie this year.

    Brian Smith will name his squad to take on the North Queensland Cowboys for Monday 10 May tomorrow.
    Wow, didn't expect to see Conn (wasn't it reported as 4 weeks out?) or Jaubs back already.

    Good stuff.

      Conn and Kennedy straight back in. If Anasta doesn't play on Monday, which is looking likely, i would play Carney at 5/8 and James Aubusson at halfback, even though that is highly unlikely to happen. I would also like to see is Liam Foran given a shot.

            Great news on the injury front. It will be good to have James Aubo back in the side except i've been impressed with Brunton in his two games he looks like he has real potential. If Braith Anasta is out i'd like to see Ben Jones and Todd Carney partner each-other in the halves i'd think they'd work a decent combination.

              Brunton has great potential, and it's great for Brian to give him a run in first grade to give him a taste as to what's to expect.

              However, i'd rathe the bloke be put back to the lower grades to learn his trade. Still too undersized for mine.

                I agree with this. The Cowboys game is an excellent opportunity to blood a rookie half. It would be handy to have a back up specialist half with FG experience to cover any injuries or rep honours during the season.
