  • The Saints player that "over rated" Anasta

I saw last night on the TV talking to Braith and saying that a few years ago a Saints player had a go at him on the field about him being over rated. They then asked Braith where that player was and he said he did not know. he is now playing in the QLD cup. What was that players name?

Also a bit embarrasing how they got the date wrong for the ANZAC test on the scoreboard....

    Cheers,

    JL

Geez Anasta made him look ordinary on the day. What made it worse was the trash Williams was talking at the scrum.

Haha I completely forgot about this twat! He had a good start to the season but then fizzled out terribly, starting with this game.

Here is an article from the build up to the game.

Richie 's Anasta sledge sure to spark fiery clash - DRAGONS v ROOSTERS - LEAGUE

Sydney Morning Herald, The (Australia) - Wednesday, April 25, 2007

Author: Jamie Pandaram and Brad Walter

BRASH young Dragons five-eighth Richie Williams has lit a fuse ahead of today's Anzac Day clash with the Roosters, claiming that his opposite, Braith Anasta, is a mere shadow of the player he once was.

Williams , who has himself recently come under criticism from fans and the Dragons coaching staff for inconsistent form, said Anasta was not as good as when he was voted the game's most overrated player in Rugby League Week players' polls in 2003, 2005 and 2006.

"I used to watch him growing up," Williams , 20, said of his 25-year-old rival. "He was doing some good things back then. If you are in first grade, you must be doing something right - so I think [the overrated tag] was unfair, but he is not as good as he was back then, trust me.

"He is still pretty good, but I want to get over the top of him. To outplay him is definitely the goal."

As if that wasn't enough to rile the Roosters for the traditional encounter, Williams has predicted they will finish last in the competition this season after five consecutive losses to start the year.

"The way they are going, you would have to say they'll win the wooden spoon. I think they'll hit some form during the season, but the way they are going now, they'll come last," Williams said.

"We will beat them for sure. We've got good, experienced players in the team; a lot of speed in the back line. We have to win this game. We've only won one all year and they haven't won any."

However, the rookie playmaker admitted he must improve his consistency, as he has not made the swashbuckling statement he would have liked after scoring a double on debut in the first round. "I play one good game and one bad game," Williams said. "I've got to play consistently week in, week out.

"[Coach Nathan Brown] has told me that to be a good first-grader, you've got to perform every single week - and that's what I'm trying to do. I want turn things around and improve some areas."

The Dragons suffered a blow yesterday when co-captain Jason Ryles was ruled out with a shoulder injury. Danny Wicks will now partner Justin Poore in the front row.

While both teams are struggling at the bottom of the premiership ladder, Poore said the annual clash between the clubs was always tough and that the significance of the occasion added emotional intensity to the fixture.

"There's a lot of feeling in it," Poore said. "I've got relatives who fought in the war so it's a special day for me."

The Roosters have named promising forward Frank-Paul Nuuausala, 20, on the interchange bench for his NRL debut.

We rolled them 18-4, a rare bit of joy under Anderson.

A guy that I worked with at the time knew him, and apparently after that game the coach ripped into him about what was said, I believe it was about that time he dropped out of sight.

I reckon he played a few more games more Saints and did have a midseason move to Penrith.

An empty vessel who made a lot of noise really!

I think he was a attempted Bra Boy.
I know someone that coached him as a kid in a union side, and told me he could play well enough but was a real dickhead
