Dragons have the potent players. They just go into their shell when their pet play ( the around the back with Boyd) gets shut down.

Morris and Nightingale on the wings is the best wing formation in the NRL.

Cooper is an origin player and Scott is no slug ( even though he is more of a defensive player ). Then they have Creagh and Jeremy Smith running hard lines on the fringes.

Soward can produce great quality although he is quiet at the moment.

Hornby is an average half back, who organizes the team perfectly.

I'll add Boyd to that list because even though he doesn't get a lot of meat pies, i think he is the best in that backline, his passing game is one of all the fullbacks in the NRL.

I put a majority of the blame on poor on-field leadership,& lack of imposing forwards..(Our front row wouldn't scare Pymple Ladies College Firsts)..
Oh i agree, i think character and ball handling are our 2 major concerns.

I was just pointing out how hard it is to keep up a decent level of footy in a tight competition like the NRL.

Merge and Melb can't do it and we are not in the viccinity of them so some tough losses are to be expected.

I'm not sure about that. The 2 games we lost this season have been due to us not showing up, rather than the opposition blowing us off the park. We gifted Canterbury 4-5 tries from simple errors. We gifted Penrith with field position and possession for most of the game yesterday, from simple errors. We have been our own worst enemy, I don't think the opposition has played that much of a role in our losses. Canterbury really weren't that good against us, and Penrith weren't spectacular yesterday. They should have put 50 on us, with the amount of ball and territory we gave them

And also, the Tigers took it to us in the first 15-20 mins. We were down by 12 to start the match, but showed a lot of character to come back and win quite comfortably

If only we were "losing tough"

Our kids have nowhere to turn for leadership at the moment..

It's left field but i'd give Maubs the captaincy..

Lead by example player, who plays the 80 every week..

Plus i don't see any of the petulance in his character, that is obvious throughout Anasta's..

Maubs is the ultimate cleanskin who rarely goes missing in games,& would have a clean slate with the refs..

He also wouldn't make the ridiculous comments in the media Anasta does..

E.g "We may not be Melboune or Saints yet,but we are not far off them"..

More ammo for opposition teams when they play us..

I bet that quote is on the wall of every other teams dressing rooms this year..

            You are splitting hairs..

Not turning up,getting blown off the park, simple mistakes, lack of respect for possession are all character flaws..

With regards to the tigers game,i see our last 15 minutes in that game as a truer show of our character..

Look what happened when the Tigpies put the game back too us,even our coach said we were embarrassing

We gotta find some back-bone....& FAST..

Give Brian Smith an even break.

He is attempting to clean up the mess left by our 3 previous coaches in Fittler, Anderson and Stuart.

The attitude and character of the majority of our players needed a major overhaul.

And the size of the job at hand was never going to become apparent until Smith witnessed them under tough playing conditions. He knew that better than anyone, which is why he's still keeping a level head.

He's learning which players buckle under pressure and which don't. Which step up when needed and which go AWOL.

The Roosters team is currently a work in progress. And there will be inconsistencies throughout the year as players and coach build a solid working relationship and find out through experience which gameplans work and which don't.

I don't what supporters are whinging about - we've won 3 games out of 5. We only won 5 games in the entire 2009 season. You don't reckon that's an improvement?

And there lies one of the most frustrating parts of being a Roosters fan. Where's the effort and passion?

Those flaws were a long time in the making Horrie - and can't be erradicated in a month of footy.

A year perhaps, but not a month.

Some of our younguns have never been coached properly in their careers. And they've picked up some bloody bad habbits.

If we win half our matches in 2010, I reckon the team will be travelling really well.

Yeh Morris and Nightingale are great wingers but they're hardly potent. Morris is probably the best finisher in the game but how often do you see him create a try for himself or someone else?

Soward is awesome in broken field play but when you come up against a finals team you just don't get that time or space.

Boyd is really the only one who can play outside of the game plan and even then I wouldn't call him potent I just think he's awesome chiming in at 2nd, 3rd receiver like you mentioned.

half the dragons team are reserve graders but bennett has them playing consistently well week after week after week.

poore made origin under bennett but now looks like a reserve grader under another coach.

our players go on holidays every second week.

you've said some utterly ridiculous things in your time rooster 6

but in saying Brett Morris is "hardly potent", you've moved into another stratosphere

In defense of Smith (can't believe I said that) he has taken over a basket case of a club and has won more games by the start of April than we had achieved in 2009 as a whole.

Benny didn't take the dragons from the bottom of the table and let's not forget he couldn't get them to turn up in September either....
