Thanks to all those welcoming me to the Forum...

        Hi Phantom,
I originally grew up in Boundary Str, Darlinghurst, went to Paddo Junior Tech High School, did my Intermediate Certificate, I live near the airport now, whilst struggling through High School, I used to get picked on quite a bit so my dad sent me to the Paddo Police Boys Club in Underwood St, to learn boxing and various forms of self defense from a few different fitness trainers that used to give their spare time free of charge to the club, quite a few years later I started to hear the name of an up and coming junior footballer start to get good reviews, he was also making a good name for himself as a Boxer at the same time as well, it just happened to be Les Hayes, I recall in those early days how he was torn between both his lively hoods of footy and boxing, when he eventually became more famous as a footy player, there was a funny incident during a game, I can't remember who we played, where an opposition player was niggling Les and tried to goad him into a fight, he was very quickly told by a team mate who he was dealing with, the said player was'nt heard from again for the rest of the game, of course it has to be said that Les knew he could never use his fists in a footy game because of his ability in the boxing ring, for fear of being charged with assault with a deadly wepon, apologies again to all for waffling again....

Being a long time supporter of this great club, I have a question for you; what do you think of this year's jersey?
I'm not too keen on the abbreviated V, makes it look like the English team shirt, but I suppose we're being controlled by a new generation of designers.

Like you and Roosda I've been around for yonks - started supporting them in '67.

Alongside my wife, kids, faith the Roosters have been my life!

Were you at the '75 Grand Final ? I was in the Sheridan Stand crowing like a rooster being hammered by Merge supporters...
No, in 1975 our second child was born, I was living in Fairfield, enjoyed the monstering of the drag queens in the local RSL club.
My one and only visit to a G/F was at the SCG, where they had to close the gates, from memory it was either '64 or '65, I think over 75,000 people were squeezed in, people were sitting on the roof of the main stand, I remember collecting 6 or 8 empty beer or coke cans to stand on, so I could see over those in front of me, in those days we also had the infamous Hill area

Any good Rooster stories of seasons '66 to '74 that you wish to share?
              Hi Axe,

In '69 I remember Artie devouring copious numbers of pies, they must have been the energy food that he needed to make him the champion player that he eventually became, in those days he could only last barely half a game, hence his famous nick name half a game Artie, I also remember the kick he managed in to the corner for Ken Irvine to score a great try v the Poms...
