  • In Carney's Defence..............

What ever Brian Smith has done to teach Todd Carney to play at fullback, he should patent it !!!

We all know how good Carney's attack is, but the thing that impressed tonight was his kick positioning and taking and his last line defence !

we saw 2 try saving tackles from carney, both one on one, he kept on his feet and read the oppsotition player beautifully.

His positioning when taking kicks was fantastic tonight and even when under pressure, he kept his head, he kept his eyes on the ball and took the ball well.

A brilliant all round performance from TC !

Having him at fullback is fantastic. I'd have him stay there, with Anasta and Pearce in the halves.

The guy is a ****ing talent.......no doubt about it, but as ive said before i really feel for the Raiders.
If he didnt like a drink and taking pics of his cock he'd still be down there carvin it for his home town team.

I think it has more to do with the kids talents and ability to read the game than smiths coaching.

        The guy is freakish

Carney is that X-factor we haven't had since Andrew Walker.

I think a bit of both. Carney certainly is a talent, and seems to be able to read the play well. So far, Smith's punt to play him at fullback is paying off. I like it.

Todd Carney has been great for us hasn't he? He has really improved his game and I wasn't a fan of him playing fullback but IMO he has justified why he should be at the back because he can chime into the line whenever he wants and he is relatively fresh to attack without the extra load in defence. In my eyes, he is a definite bolter for the NSW Origin side, although there is a freak named Jarryd Hayne who will occupy that number 1 spot.

I can't see another number 6 getting the gig ahead of Carney. Barret is the incumbent but by god he has been awful.

Pearce is odds on for a 7 jersey.

If they're fair dinkum on picking the teams on form.

100% agree. I was more impressed with his defensive play than anything else on Friday night. One thing you forgot to mention, was one of those try saving 1 on 1 tackles was done on our 20 metre line. The next play, Brisbane shifted the ball out to the left, and put in a grubber in behind the line and into the in goal area. Carney got across to bat it dead! That was very impressive

I think a lot of credit should be given to Brett Hodgson, who I believe spent a lot of time working with Carney for fullback in the off season before going back to England..

The idea was Smiff's but Hodgson should be credited with the execution...
