I don't think we need Kouparitsis or Ben Jones, tbh. We have ourselves easily covered in the halves, as if one of Anasta or Pearce gets injured, Carney can step up, with Mini or Perret to fullback, and MAubs out to centre, and the same applies if Carney gets injured. If JAubs has to go off, Pearce or Carney can easily play dummy half in attack.

There is some serious size and impact on that bench, and I think we lose something throwing Kouparitsis and/or Jones in there.
How good is that bench compared to how it is now.

      8. JWH - When he's fully fit, I want to see him starting, couldn't be any worse than paea and FPN
      9. Jones - is more of a hooker for me than any other position, and he showed it in the all stars match
      10. Paea - has been the better (but slightly) over the three front-rowers
      11. Symonds - had a cracker of a first 36 in the game against the bunnies, deserved a spot in the 13 wen he returns
      12. Maubs - has been by far the best second rower this season
      13. Myles - our stand-out player in the front two rows.

      14. Jaubs - playing slightly better than koups and much better ball player than he is, which is why im givin him a bench spot
      15. Ryles - seems to me that he is really unfit, and can only play 35 mins of a game. start him off the bench, put him on for the last 10 mins in the first half and the last 25 in the second while the other teams begin to tire.
      16. FPN - impact player, not a starter... he should do much better off the bench
      17. Conn/Guerra - both deserve a spot in the team, but depends on which one you want to have... a try-scorer type forward who doesnt take the ball very far or a good hitter-uper-erer who takes it up, but doesnt get close to the line but makes good yardage.

        8. Ryles
        9. Jorbs
        10. Paea
        11. Symonds
        12. Morbs
        13. Myles

        14. Jones (IMO we need him, huge utility value plus he can provide speed and impact that few others can)
        15. Kouparitsas/Guerra
        16. Hargreaves
        17. Nuuausala

It is very simply IMO. Conn should be viewed as cover for Myles and JWH - hardworking hardrunning backrow/props with mongrel. Guerra or Koops really depends on how we want to style our play. Koops can bring in some nifty ballplaying to run around those big teams, or Guerra as a hole-hitter much like Symonds.

Can someone explain to me why, when we're at full strength, we need a utility?

Pearce, Carney, Anasta and JAubs, all 80 minute players. Minichiello, Perret, MAubs and Symonds provide adequate backup if one gets injured.

Why have Jones or Kouparitsis, when you could field a big, powerful bench of four forwards, allowing Paea and FPN to play their natural, explosive, 35-minutes-of-intensity-a-game type games?

The utility has become a hugely overrated part of the average NRL team imo. How often do your halves go down injured? Once a year or so maybe. Why are we putting a back on the bench, weakening our side weak in weak out for this unlikely scenario.

Same in Origin. **** off Gidley, do not need you.

A fresh utility is used to exploit a tiring ruck area. Did you see what Ben Barber did to us..

They are not there to replace the halves. They are there to run around or through the forward pack...Or to pop up where ever there is a weakness..

its interesting that you use ben barba as ur example... he is a hell of a player, and i dont understand why he's being used as a utility. but jones, not koups, is in that same category, he's there to replace mainly the hooker.koups started his career as a second rower, i dont know hy now he is being used as a utility.

                agree with ur statement though.

Ben Barba is very good, but not consistant enough..

As a utility if you go missing, you get hooked..

I am not comparing Kouparitsas with Ben Barba in any stretch of the imagination. Only that they are both used as "utility" players...

IMO - The perfect bench is made up of a 3 forwards with no brains and 1 player that has the smarts on a football field...

Kouparitsis isn't going to run around tired forwards around the ruck.

Ben Jones might, but I still reckon we look better with 4 hard, strong running forwards on the bench.

No, the second rower who thinks it's his job to have the ball in his hands on the last tackle!!!!

Oh, i thought you would be more mad on the bloke who threw the ball away early on in 2 attacking sets, and just lost the ball cold on the 2nd tackle after a penalty early in the game.

Momentum is a powerful thing, and we threw it away with unbelievable errors. Carney and Perret were no better.

Dont worry about koups Anasta gets twice the money of Luke Lewis and does sweet **** all. The sooner they pension him off to England the better.
