  • Aiden Tolman?

    http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news...-1225847701264

Looks like Tolman is on our radar. Very good to hear. As far as I am concerned, the only solidified spots in our pack are:

    8.
    9.
    10. Frank-Paul Nuuausala
    11. Jared Waerea-Hargreaves
    12. Nate Myles
    13. Mitchell Aubusson

    14. Ben Jones
    15. Tom Symonds
    16.
    17.

As far as I am concerned, these should be the only confirmed players for next season. I am yet to see that Kouparitsas (off contract), J Aubusson (off contract), Takairangi (off contract), Paea (off contract), Kennedy (off contract) or Ryles (2011) are worth keeping on for next season. Masoe and Baitieri haven't really pushed for FG spots yet either.

We should definitely be looking at one dummy half, at least, depending on if Jake Friend is ready to return or not. One (if Ryles stays) or two props would be nice, especially a young bull like Tolman, Packer, Merrin, Hunt or Douglas.

Tolman would be a good buy for us, he looks the goods to me. Hard runner and moblie , his defence looks good too.

hell yes. and the advantage with him is that a lot of his work goes unnoticed so he isnt exactly an over-hyped player. I hope like hell we get him. Id like our pack to look something like this for next season:
      8. Tolman
      9. Jaubs
      10. JWH
      11. Maubs
      12. Cherrington
      13. Myles

      14. Conn
      15. FPN
      16. Symonds
      17. Friend
Pretty young and raw but heaps of talent and potential imo. I think JWH and tolman would complement each other perfectly up front - tolman as a mobile, big minute playing workhorse and JWH as the big, strong, powerful destroyer with myles in there at lock to play that third prop role. It would be a punt but i think one that would be well worth it

        No chance.

Bellamy rates him highly, they will let a few others go before him ie Lima.

The only way we can lure him over is for big dosh, but that nearly always backfires ie Poore.

Well like I have said, if we are to chase a prop, we should either chase one of the young firebrands who have just hit first grade and are showing amazing signs early on, like:

          - Aiden Tolman - Storm
          - Russell Packer - Warriors
          - Trent Merrin - Dragons
          - Josh McGuire - Broncos
          - Tim Grant - Panthers
          - Siosaia Vave - Sharks
          - Will Matthews and Bodene Thompson - Titans
          - Tim Mannah - Eels
          - Eddy Pettybourne - Souths
          - James Tamou - Cowboys

There are also plenty of other younger ones who are just cracking into first grade now, like Andrew Fifita, Mitchell Dodds, Leeson Ah Mau, Jesse Bromwich, David Hala, Sam McKendry, Siosaia Vave. We can always watch to see how they go this season too. Our very own Martin Kennedy, Mose Masoe and Tinirau Arona are NYC graduates too, Kennedy hasn't really hit his straps at all yet, I'd like to see Mose and Arona in action.

Otherwise, we can look at experienced options like Matt Scott, Shane Tronc, Jeff Lima, etc.

i would welcome him immediately.. very impressed by his games thus far. Very strong work ethic and a hard runner of the ball.

edit: and most of all, very mature for his young age.

So what about our young props ?

Can't we develop our own young props ?

Surely the messiah of recruitment O'Sullivan has looked into this area before ?

Takes a long time to develop a prop, he's recruited Arona from the Panthers who I think in a couple of years will turn out to be a very good player for us.

Tolman will be huge, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he got an origin game under his belt in 2010. Certainly with Pearce and Carney would be a player to build the team around for another decade...

                  Tolman - YES, YES, YES.

Can't see the Storm letting him go though.

Honestly, the two most impressive young players I have seen this year are Aiden Tolman and Shaun Fensom.

Both have HUGE tickers, were amazing in the 2008 NYC with their workrates being key to their talents. While Fensom spent most of last year in QLD Cup with Souths Logan, Tolman spent a year on the bench for Storm.

Now both are regular starters for their team, and have racked up very impressive stats. Fensom will be the next Craig Fitzgibbon - 30+ tackles a game, linebreaks, aggression and leadership. Tolman will be the next Webcke.

Fensom has an amazing motor just racks up 2 or 3 tackles nearly every set of 6 in defence

Tolman would be an awesome buy, but I highly doubt Bellamy would let him go. We would be paying massive $$$ to get him. And I doubt Bellamy would want another player taken by POS

Maybe "Eddie" could have a word to him about how good it is being at the mighty roosters

Are we still interested in that pommie prop?

Check with your network, but I hear Lima on his way to the Roosters in 2011.

I'd be very happy with Lima.

                              Paea off to England?
