  • We were woeful. But...

    Calm down.

This was never supposed to be a premiership season.

Think back to round 1, we were underdogs. Same goes for round 2.

We get thumped, and every single player needs to get out of the club, go to England, FFS, calm down.

The game was 30-14 at one point. Think about it. We tried a 40/20. Say we get that 40/20, or hold onto the ball and get down into their half. We score off the next set. We're right in the game.

Rugby league is a bastard of a game. But one bounce of the ball is all it takes.

This is a rebuilding season. Smith and the team will bounce back after this, you watch.

    We'll be right.

I agree that we will bounce back, but...

a faith that we will bounce back is no excuse for accepting mediocrity this week.

I hope Smith sits those guys down tomorrow and forces them to watch every cringeworthy defensive error, every josh morris try, every incomplete set so that they don't make these mistakes again.

This club has higher standards than the bullshit served up today.

Having said that, next week should see some pride restored to the jumper. Provided they learn from their mistakes, and cop the criticism on the chin.

in any thread tonight, no one has accepted mediocrity.

People have said that there was complacancy by the Roosters boys, they lacked enthusiasim and played (as brian smith said) like they were looking for an umbrella to sit under and sip pina coladas.

our club does have higher standards, rounds one and two proved that we are able to reach those standards. Now we have to consistantly reach those standards, that is what Smith is charged with doing and he will use this game against the dogs to drum that home.

When a door closes, a window opens.

Very true, and I'm not accepting that performance, it was complete crap.

But it's very, very easy to sitback and call for every player to be dropped, sacked, fired, to tell everyone how the season's done for, etc. etc.

A bit of reality shows otherwise. I know tired excuse isn't nearly enough, but last week was an absolute ****ing scorcher. I was sitting on the sunny side, and getting completely roasted, and I had a few cold beers, when they were out there playing footy in that heat. I'd imagine they'd be feeling the effects of that for a while.

What Smith did wrong, something he admitted himself, is because of this fatigue, he let them off. They had a week of rest, and fluffy preparation with noone ripping in. Combine that with being plummeting favourites in the betting markets, and all the media stories we had, and you get the attitude we took to the game.

I'm not making excuses, none of the above is good enough. They have to be far, far better than that. But, it is not over, by any means. Smith is too smart and too good a coach to let us slide into some prolonged mediocrity. He will have them firing up at training, and ready to play on Friday.

No player deserves to be sacked. But if i was part of a team that was having a sickie, Id be saying to my boss about now, "No thanks Mr Politis, you can keep my cheque this week."

The players should combine last week's salary and give it to the Children's hospital.

Mass sackings are certainly not the answer, I like Melon's idea.

One would think that after the year we have just suffered through that we can weather pretty well anything.....

Yesterday was HUGE speed hump, but I am pretty sure the guys and Smithy will be glad to have a big loss like that behind then and will be back to basics like ball control at training this week.....BUT mass sackings should not be part of it......unless its almost the entire squad, because in the game I witnessed, there truely wasn't any one person I could say lost if for us.....it was a team effort......

Blind Freddy could see the two props aren't up to it.

                        maybe not?

FPN and Paea are a poor man's version of the Ogre. What happened to him again?

                          Ok, sack 'em then.

And now what? We're gonna get Martin Kennedy to headbutt the ball up the field?

They're all we've got, and both go good on their day, they've just gotta get some consistency.

I really dont think they are needed, they are very lazy in defence, which is what wins you games. And say Conn and Guerra take those same hit ups they'll get the same metres just without the lazy defence.

Sadly we are stuck with them for this season.

And no..I don't have a solution. Other than trading midseason. We'll have to put up with their inconsistency.
